Is it fair to say that these aspects did affect Alex? He was starting to reach superstar status, after all.

I think they game-planned so much for takedown defense (which did work, btw; Ank went 0-13 against a kickboxer) that they weren't prepared for the striking and wall-and-stall.

Those stats are misleading, they frame every time he clinch / attempted to clinch as a serious effort to take him down lol.

Worked anyways, Pereira looked useless in the clinch and complained about being held there. He should've gotten out of the position if he didn't want to be there.

yeah probably trained way more with Ankalaev even. They've been training together for years.
