is it possible that the big weight cuts some fighters undergo makes them more vulnerable to being knocked out? it seems there is quite a few knockouts in mma from hits that don't look like they should have done much damage. the poirer vs mcgregor fight comes to mind as well as robert whitaker vs xavier lucas. the smaller gloves may play a factor but i'm not sure this is the primary cause. i just finished watching a kickboxing fight where the guy died and it looked like he hardly got hit with much impact at all. how well does the brain rehydrate within twenty four hours after a severe weight cut.

was a strange knockout, but he still hit him on the chin, i have seen a few fighters get flattened by hits on the top of the head that didn't seen hard enough to knock the skin off custard. the robert whitaker knock out of professor x is the best example i can think of at the moment.

Mac Danzig vs. Joe Stevenson was pretty out of nowhere considering that Danzig isn't known for his power and Stevenson had only been KOd by Pulver in his third career fight.

Mitrione vs De Fries comes to mind

Not many times you see a guy get rocked and dropped by running into his opponent's hip

    Also Brooks vs Chandler 2

Clean temple shot and Chandler appears to wave off the fight before getting blasted a few more times

I remember some weird knockouts, Michael Chandler vs Will Brooks ringed a bell. He gets hit flush and just acts all weird and out on his feet never seen anything like that before. Was scary to watch cause he had no idea what happened.
