Store owner chases and shoots beer thief, thief dies, Store owner charged

definitely crossed the line, clearly, but you never know what others are going to do, or how they'll react particularly when they are the victims of a crime. Regular people are not experts in EoF procedures, and thus more likely to get nervous or scared and overreact (shit our own police are guilty of this like every day). undeserved or not, you play the game you get the prize

Exactly, when you commit crimes, you don't get to dictate someone's reaction to that crime. The clerk was in the wrong but he brought this on himself.

It's why they have stand your ground laws in the first place. You never know when a criminal is going to go get a gun and come back for you.

if I was on the jury I would not convict .. the clerk was forced into this situation by the thief .. he wasn't looking for any trouble .. he was minding his own business at his job .. hopefully he gets at least one juror with some sense

Daily mail. Wasn't even sure the thief died, but apparently he did 4 days later.
The shooter is using the "he was reaching for a gun" defence.

just let the guy have the beer ffs..... no case of beer is worth taking someones life
