This is the fight i've always wanted to see....2 smaller HWs, both athletic and aggressive but with different strengths (Stipe the better stand up striker, Cain the best GnP and wrestling in HW division)

Cormier has said he refuses to fight HW anymore as long as Cain is still fighting, and Stipe has basically cleaned the rest of the division out. No one's interested in Stipe Werdum 2, and unless you sign Minakov the fresh challenges are done.

Stipe Cain is a super fight. My only worry is the long layoff and injuries will play a role for Cain

Sorry TS, but what no one's interested in is Cain anywhere near a title shot unless he proves he can stay healthy. Werdum or even Volkov please.

If we can glue Cain together long enough for him to survive a training camp

no it is not, Cain needs at least one more "major" win to get title shot.
Fabricio Werdum is only true challenger

Definitely want to see it. Screw a tuneup fight, what with Cain's constitution you might not get another chance!

Werdum has had some unfortunate booking, but let's take a look at what happened since he lost.

He was supposed to fight Rothwell, but Ben had to be replaced by Travis
Then he was supposed to fight Cain, but Cain was unfit.
Then he was supposed to fight Ben again, but Ben popped.
Then he fought Overeem.
Then he was supposed to fight Lewis, but Lewis wasn't cleared and replaced by Harris
Then he filled in less than a month later to replace Hunt vs Tybura.

So his accomplishments since losing the belt were
  • Beating up Browne
  • Getting a front kick knockout victory over Edmond
  • Dropping that close fight to Overeem
  • Submitting Harris in the blink of an eye
  • Getting a KO victory over Colby via boomerang
  • Dominating Tybura
Since losing the title to Werdum, Cain has
  • Knocked out Browne
  • Died 5 times.

Yeah, I'm kinda interested in Werdum

Cain lost to Werdum and then won against Travis Browne... about one and a half year ago.

That does not warrant a title shot imo.

Fuck no. I don't want the HW title inactive for another 2 years after Cain gets injured again IF he wins.

People seem to want a rematch this time...

I'd be surprised if Werdum had anything for Stipe. He didn't look that good vs Tybyra, Browne or Overeem to be honest. At least if Cain was somehow in his normal shape that would be a good new test for Stipe.

Stipe probably won't fight for another year now any way so just forget about him for a while

I believe Struve still has bragging rights on Stipe. :D

I agree with others that Cain needs to show he's not just a once every two year fighter before he gets a shot.

An interesting assortment of opinions on here. I think if Cain's healthy Cain vs. Stipe is the fight I want to see. Can't put it any more simply than that.

I get what you're all saying, but the reality is that STYLES make fights. I'm interested in the Cain aggressive GnP hyper wrestler vs. Stipe's aggressive striker approach

Hes won ONE fight since 2013

Im closer to a title shot that he is

There is no "worthy" challenger right now, but Werdum is the closest. Cain needs a tune-up fight against arlovski or something, then he can fight the winner.
