Life's not fair
The UFC and WME don't play care if you don't draw unfortunately
Cormier addressed this. He said "If Brock doesn't make it, he'd happily give Stipe a rematch"
It's ONLY about the money for DC right now. And at 39, double champ, retiring at 40, it's understandable.
I actually wouldn't mind seeing DC and Miocic fight again.
As much as I like DC, I didn't expect him to flat-line Stipe in the first like that.
Difference between losing a split decision and getting knocked out cold in 1 round.
Also a difference between 11 title defences and 3?
Also needle didn't move.
A little difference between 11 defenses and lose a split decision and 3 and lose by first round KO.
I know what Stipe is doing and is the right thing, he should never stop fighting for that rematch, but this was a dumb argument imo.
Funny to think how short a time it's been since Stipe was being talked about as GOAT.
people with shit employers have the option of doing other jobs. or, you know, they could stay in the shit organisation and moan about it forever
I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch either. It probably would be a better fight. The only reason I wouldnt want to see one is because of the chance of Stipe losing. I think people would discredit his entire body of work if he lost twice to a DC who is completely past his prime.
If Tim Sylvia didn't get an immediate rematch after 2 title defenses, I don't see why Stipe should get one. Especially given that Tim went 5 rounds with Randy and Stipe got KTFO in the 1st round.
Immediate rematches are shit anyway, in a perfect world neither Mighty Mouse nor Stipe should get one - why do you have to beat the champ twice in a row? It's just that when dudes with zero defenses like Cody are getting immediate rematches, Stipe can't help but complain.
I swear he always complaining about something.
Stipe, you got fucking knocked out clean mate. DJ fought to a split decision. Jesus Christ.
A split over a dominant champ should be a rematch imo, DJ can make 200k less in his next fight because of a round or two that could go either way, he would be a fool not to ask for the rematch.
Stipe's post is dumb.
His fight outcome was not remotely close to MM's (a controversial close decision).
Cormier's post is weird.
We've gone from automatic rematches, no matter what, to no hope for rematches ever within about 1.5 yrs?
Demetrious lost a closely contested 5 round fight and defended his title in the double digits.
Stipe got KO'd in the 1st and defended his title 3 times.
Big difference there I'd say.
Well, DJ lost a close decision... Stipe got knocked out in the first round. He would have done himself more justice pointing to the fact that Cody got an immediate rematch... but that ship has sailed too. (now that the rematch is done and Cody lost even quicker than the first fight... it won't be a smart argument)
