Stipe miocic:
Defended the title 3 times
2 losses
-6 fight winning streak "prime" werdum(include Cain)
-6 fight winning streak arlovski
-4 fight winning streak Overeem(this version of Overeem is the most skilled Overeem we ever seen)
-10 fight winning streak ngannou(include Overeem, arlovski and Curtis)
-most evolved version of mark hunt
-post Cain Jds but still a great win

Now let's compare that to fedor
Defended the title 3 times
5 losses
-physical prime big nog(3x)
-prime cro cop
-Sylvia
-4 fight winning streak arlovski
-way past prime make Coleman
-Kevin randleman
-Mark hunt v1(not prime mark hunt because this mark hunt went on 4 fight losing streak after he fought Barnett )

Nogueira has the best resume in HW history. Look at Nog's wins:

Cro Cop
Barnett
Sergei
Werdum
Sylvia
Ricco
Coleman
Couture
Hendo
Sapp
Herring 3x

(Also Fedor defended the world title 6x. 3 in PRIDE vs Nog, CC and Hunt and 3 as WAMMA champ versus Sylvia, Arlovski and Rogers. Fedor also beat Coleman and Randleman in the 2004 Grand Prix which did not count as title defenses but perhaps should)

So I requested this list from @Taric
He replied in this thread and this is very informative:

Fedor - #1 HW of all time

#1 fighters defeated (1):
Nogueira 1
Top 5 fighters defeated (5):
Nogueira 3
Cro Cop
Arlovski
Sylvia
Herring
Top 10 fighters defeated (6):
Coleman 1
Hunt
Randleman
Schilt
Rogers
Fujita

Nogueira - #2 HW of all time

#1 fighters defeated (1):
Coleman
Top 5 fighters defeated (5):
Cro Cop
Sylvia
Herring 1
Barnett 2
Rodriguez
Top 10 fighters defeated (7):
Couture
Werdum
Herring 2
Kharitonov
Schaub
Schilt
Overeem

Werdum - #3 HW of all time

#1 fighters defeated (2):
Fedor
Velasquez
Top 5 fighters defeated (2):
Hunt
Browne
Top 10 fighters defeated (6):
Overeem
Gonzaga
Nelson
Alexander Emelianenko
Russow
Erikson

JDS - #4 HW of all time

#1 fighters defeated (1):
Velasquez
Top 5 fighters defeated (3):
Rothwell
Carwin
Hunt
Top 10 fighters defeated (5):
Miocic
Mir

Cro Cop
Werdum

Not if you include his losses
If Stipe fights as long as Nog did or has as many fights, he would surely have as many losses.

Nog's career is done. Stipe's career is still going. Stipe has a chance to add some more wins but also has the potential to suffer some bad losses at the end of his career like just about all legends.

As it stands right now, Nog has many more ranked wins than Stipe.

Depends... if Fedor quitted MMA before his losses i think it was the best resume. But he didn't.

Kinda impossible to compare i guess.

All this text and not one mention of the goat [easteuroaccent]which is..of course..Emelianenko Fyodor[/easteuroaccent]

Going undefeated at HW for a decade is still unprecedented, all while fighting in multiple organizations, one being the best in the world.

You can argue the opponent quality but I don't see Stipe facing all Fedor's competition without something happening.

How is this better than Fedor when Fedor has most of these wins on his resume + Nog X 2?

If Barnett didn't ruin Affliction III Fedor would have that win on his resume as well.

It's apples to oranges comparing the resumes. Fedor was #1 in the world 2003-2009 but he fought a lot of cans in between mixed in with some top level guys. Stipe is basically fighting a much less but they are all killers in a shorter time span.

Ogawa or Lindland?
<LikeReally5>

Prime Nogueira who could snatch you in a sub and Cro-Cop at his best was more in line with my thinking. If Stipe took a 2002 Nogueira to the ground who could take a beating beyond words I see danger in that fight for Stipe.

To me Miocic has a ways to go to ever be considered the best HW this sport has ever seen and I don't begin to understand the argument that people try to make for him at this point.

Nog has best resume

Werdum and JDS have the next best resumes

Then Fedor

Then Stipe and Reem

Arlovski and overeem have been getting knocked out for 20 years now I can't call them great wins anymore.

As a big Stipe fan, Fedor beat every single good HW from his era. Mir is the biggest name from that era that he hasn't beaten and he has a chance to do that now. And these weren't close decisions, he destroyed everyone. He was unquestionably the best by far. Stipe needs to beat Cain in dominant fashion, then we can have this conversation.

@Taric

This thread needs your list of ranked wins for Nog, Fedor, Stipe, JDS and Werdum to put things into perspective

Stipe's the best HW in the UFC by far, but not in all of MMA. Prime Big Nog and Fedor come to mind when you think of all time greats in MMA HW history, not Stipe. Stipe needs to beat DC, Cain (if he comes back) and maybe.... POSSIBLY Jon Jones (would be an interesting matchup IF he ever decides to move up) I mean those are three fights right there I really want to see and if Stipe beats all 3, and remains ubeaten for quite sometime... I may see an argument for Stipe having the better rèsumè and being a contender for one of the greatest HW's of all time, but no one will come close to Fedor and Big Nog.
