Stipe at his best is definitely an interesting fight but the worry of course is its years since we've seen him fight and even they he maybe looked to be dropping off, years of inactiovity latter coming off a massive KO loss at 42 does not inspire confidence.

The "massive KO loss" was 4 years ago. I really don't think it's a huge impact on this fight.

Eh? Jon had like 2, maaybe 3 fights where he took significant damage. Never been knocked down, barely even been rocked.
Stipe vs DC 2 alone was more brutal than anything Jon went through, and that's not even counting the 3 KO's and the many times he was rocked. It's not close.

And we also haven’t seen much of Jon as a HW. For all we know he’ll look old and plodding to nullify whatever decline Stipe is in.

Jon has always been good at avoiding power shots. Even if you consider that Stipe is bigger than most of Jon's former opponents, you can still expect him to stay defensive, send calf kicks and wait for the eventual grapple opportunity.

It may be a huge cherry pick for Jon to face an 8th ranked 42 year old Stipe instead of the interim champ Aspinall, but everyone thinking Jon is some HW destroyer because he subbed Gane who is the worst grappler he ever fought is deluding themselves.

This will be the first time Jon tastes HW power, and Stipe is being underestimated big time. Some HW's peak in their early 40's and Stipe is looking fresh, huge and has had plenty of time to heal up.

This could backfire on Jones big time.
