He couldn't have another plan than what he did. ngannou is huge, strong, but with no (literally no) cardio.

Wondering Stipe gassed? He stopped 20lbs more muscles than he has. Any1 who had wrestled knows and appreciates what Stipe did.

Awesome work. It wasn't the most entertaining fight ever. But man was this interesting.

Stipe did an awesome work.

oh and who didn't want to see that Dana look at the end. C'mon this was cool.

Dana sounded like his kid just lost a high school wrestling championship match. And he's like "yeah the other guy was better what can you do". Didn't even show up to post-fight conference to brag about the amazing work of his HW champ. Dana Fucking White.

He fought intelligently. He really should have stopped Ngannou, though.

After eating that big punch in the 3rd round, I think Stipe gave up on any plans to go for a finish and tried just not to get caught again.

Personally (having money on Stipe) I was on the edge of my seat every second Francis' ass was not on the mat.

Lol @ the people saying Stipe looked horrible. Francis is insanely dangerous. Dude only landed like 30 strikes and look at Stipe’s face. He has a huge grappling advantage and used it. Of course he was gassed. Francis is HUGE and Stipe controlled him. There’s not another HW on the planet that can do that. Don’t say Cain, let’s wait and see how he looks before we can say Cain can wrestle Francis the way Stipe did.

Stipe took the chance to finish Ngannou and he ate a few shots that wern't even very clean and that was enough for him, I don't blame him for not wanting to risk eating an uppercut from hell.

Don't think anyone could take what Overeem was hit with and keep fighting.

Well im sure he was fuckin pissed off at Stipe grabbing the belt off him like that, and didn't wanna say some shit hed regret.

The perfect performance would have involved a little better movement on the feet and a tko/sub finish before the championship rounds. Francis was done by the 2nd.

Yeah don't see why people would shit on Stipe.
He did a great job and I don't think the fight was that bad.

I won a LOT of money on Stipe tonight. I bet him to win, and put a big bet on him to win by decision at +750. Also a had a small bet on him to win by submission at +1500. I will NEVER do that again for Stipe. He could have pretended to go for a choke a got a tap, he never even looked for a choke or to take his back, not even at the end of the round with like 30 seconds left. That is kind of disappointing and should be something Stipe works on more before his next fight. Also, if he gasses like that against Cain he is going to be in real trouble, though I'm not still on the hype train after all of Cain's injuries I'm not sure his cardio is everything it used to be.

Stipe had Francis in a couple positions very similar to how he finished hunt....but herb obviously wasn't gonna stop shit

I think the baldfather was in everybody's ear before this fight

The apologists are out in full force for what was objectively a terrible fight that showcased little beyond one dude exploiting a major flaw in another guy to eek out a win using minimal technique beyond clinchwork and side control

<{hfved}>

And Cain should have finished JDS in the second fight

Fedor should have finished Big Nog

Ngannou is a strong, confident dude who has never had his chin cracked. He was dominated

A shitty Jason Terry gif doesnt deflect the fact that Stipe had him dead to rights for the 2nd half of the 4th and couldn't muster punches or holds on a completely immobile opponent.

You're an obvious two-faced homer when you defend Stpe in this instance literally minutes ago posting in another thread "Man, Stipe would finish him early. Not much else to say about it Fedor has absolutely nothing to threaten Stipe"
How does it feel to be so brainwashed?

He was on Ngannou tighter than his shorts lmao, every time he looked to strike Francis began to stand up. Stipe just took a dominant position, forced him back down and did the same thing over and over. The only thing that saved Francis was a 25 minute time limit. I'm impressed he didn't quit but he was outclassed by a long shotn

I think he was planning on it, but waited too long. I think he was planning on going for the finish in the fifth, but he missed the first two takedowns and Ngannou looked like he got a bit of energy back, so he didn't risk throwing it away. He should have started looking for the finish in the third, but overall it was a masterful performance.

See my edit above. You're a blind homer who contradicts himself across multiple threads.

Nothing about Miocic's offense in the last 2 rounds was close to finishing a guy despite having him held down in a position where a non-gassed fighter would have won by brutal GNP or RNC.

I would hardly call 50-44 eking out a win.
