Big Shogun fan but he's been done for a long time. You gotta give OSP props for that punch, though. Perfectly timed and placed. Many other fighters would have been happy to circle out of that attack, or tie up for a take down. He ended the fight.

Just an example of why striking with your hands down, chin first and going for the fences is frowned upon.

Oh come on. Shogun was a lot more than crazy tough and fearless. His knees are shot and he's regressed to the point where he can barely throw kicks (his bread and butter at one time). It doesn't mean he never had any skill.

I know this gif is a little played out but watch his movement. The ability to slip punches along with the absolutely beautiful kick to keep Chuck at bay is indicative of a high level of skill. He just can't do it anymore and needs to hang them up.

Well yah, he fucking didn't. More discrediting. You're basically saying when Aldo uses his superb headmovement that they should just hit him with uppercuts and body shots. If it's so easy why don't we see people in the pocket who use headmovement get clipped more often? Because MMA striking is dogshit and what Shogun doing there was light years ahead of more than half the LHW divison. Shogun out struck and made Chuck look like an amateur. It just goes to show how easily Chuck striking could of been exploited when you don't swing and stick to a gameplan.
