Sterling vs caraway May 29 Fight Night 88

Good fight, I think Caraway could win this with his striking lol. Sterling doesn't have great striking at all, it looked horrible vs Eduardo and Viana. I also think Caraway's grappling is good enough to survive on the bottom/could maybe catch Sterling. I would have rather booked Assuncao vs Sterling.

Sterling better be on top of his game. If he loses this after all the (mostly) one sided trash talk, it'll haunt him for a long time.

That side, for some reason, I'm thinking Caraway via decision.

About time, I'll take Sterling by late sub. Caraway's a solid grappler in his own right but I think that Aljamain catches something in a scramble late. It could be a ground war.

Caraway trying to crawl out from under the shadow of daddy Meisha Tate.

Sterling by Dec.

It should probably be headlining based off of rankings and arguably name-value as well. This is 4 vs 8 and the main event of the same shown is 7 vs 15 in the same division. And am I wrong in thinking that Caraway has the most name value after beating Winelands, being on TUF and dating Tate/feuding with Rousey?

Great fight though, can't complain too much. I think Bantamweight is my favourite division at the moment with all of these prospects and new contenders.

Sterling gonna show him who the best grappler is at 135

Caraway got tired of all the fight ducking comments and has finally offered himself as a sacrificial lamb.

I'm surprised Caraway didn't duck this one.

Sterling slaughters him.

I love this fight. Two awesome grapplers, and one is just a red-hot prospect. I am a big fan of Caraway, despite how cool it is to hate him.

Who the fuck cares jabroni

Sterling is basically a more athletic version of Caraway.

Hopefully the fight doesn't stay standing as it has potential to a be a really fun fight. Sterling is a faster, more athletic, and more skilled scrambler than Caraway though, so I don't expect Caraway to win.

According to fight metric (and what I remember from the fight) the striking was even in the first and then Sterling started to dominate in the 2nd (lots of kicks) before easily finishing Eduardo, so not sure what you mean about his striking being "horrible." He did out-strike the supposed better striker, he just used kicks to break him down instead of getting in dangerous boxing exchanges with a dude who has heavy hands for the weight class.

I'd say Sterling's striking style isn't visually pleasing but it is effective, but he seems to have really nice kicks and distance management. I remember him being interviewed and he stated that he always breaks his hands when he throws them hard so he prefers to just kick the shit out of people so they close the pocket instead of him (which opens up takedowns to him, which is where he wants to be anyways).

I personally see Sterling methodically breaking down Caraway and dominating him throughout the fight; I'd much rather see Dillashaw vs. Assuncao 2 (way more juice in that fight) as the other match-up made in the division.

I think Caraway is good enough to not be submitted but that's about it.

I've got Sterling 30-27.
