I gave 8/10 for their efforts. It did give the UFC the boost it needed to move towards more commercial success; it was perfect timing for it to happen when it did.

I wouldn't give it higher than that because of the skill level. Give them credit though.

Sad that Bonnar has passed, but he'll always be remembered for this.

.
9 ...

All it was missing was 5 rounds and for a title ...

But its an absolute amazing moment and fight.. the heart and desire was insane

And watching it live , no1 had seen stuff like this on regular tv here in north America it was PPV only really untill the TUF 1.. so it was nuts

It was to MMA what Toughman competitions are to pro boxing but it was extremely exciting and exactly what they needed to hook TUF noobs in droves. It was during that fight that I first considered the fact that after these guys' fame runs out it wouldn't be good for some of them.

It was an important fight but it was pretty much just a brawl. It was able to hook a lot of WWE fans that weren't watching the UFC at the time. I never cared for either guy. Bonnar was always an undercard level fighter. Forrest was better than him but way overrated. His best two wins were over an out of shape Shogun who needed knee surgery & Rampage who had a mental breakdown & wasn't training properly. But no doubt about it the first season of TUF saved the UFC. It was also Lorenzo's idea, Dana was against it. Lorenzo was always the brains behind the ZUFFA era UFC. Dana gets way to much credit.

Great fight between above-average hillbilly Joes. Physically, technically, matched up well.

But the asparagus war with Sanchez could've been settled in a more interesting fight.

And to think Dana turned down the idea of TUF when it first came up. Lorenzo had to step in and remind Dana of his place. Without Lorenzo there probably wouldn't be a UFC today.
The Fertettis also had to pay money to keep TUF going in the first place; many don't know that.
