state troopers

State Troopers are our DEA in WA. I have a few friends that are Troopers. I never get pulled over by them. It's always someone I don't know. My friends get pulled over by my friends that are Troopers. No tickets because they know me. Fuck my friends that get pulled over by my friends...

How teh fuck did you get dubbs CB?

Typical War Rooom stuff. I get them for Christmas every year.

They seem to be particularly douchey because they police the road rather than any actual community which may have given them some sense of connection/empathy.

I love threads like this, half turn into nice stories about cops, the other half turns into "I broke the law and got caught, fucking POS shit worthless cops" etc.

I've only had two unpleasant experiences with police, one was a state trooper.
(both of these were traffic related, I'm not a criminal of any sort.)

I was driving down a country 2-lane road, and there was a slow ass car and a slow ass truck in front of me. I said F this, and passed them. Of all the dumb luck, the truck driver apparently knew the local sheriff and ratted me out. I was only going 12 miles above the speed limit, and it was a dotted line, so I figured I was in the right to speed up to pass them. What I didn't know was that you can't pass more then one person at a time on a two-lane road. Seriously never know that before. So I'm putting along, and 15 minutes later I come across two more slow ass vehicles, and do the same thing. Unfortunately, a cop was coming in the opposite direction and saw me, and pulled me over. So I say what the heck man, (not in those words) I was just passing. So then I learned about the one car at a time pass rule, PLUS those assholes behind me told this guy I did it before he saw me, so now I've done it twice. I get a $300 ticket, and I have to come back to bumfuck to appear in traffic court. -but that isn't the part that blew me away.

So I show up in traffic court at bumfuck county, the judge calls my name, and the state trooper tells the judge, I shit you not. "He was going so fast when he passed, that I had to swerve to avoid him." I looked at this guy like WHAT THE FUUUUUCK?!" It came the fuck out of nowhere. I couldn't believe this guy was lying in court over something so petty. I was MILES away from this cop when he saw me passing down the road. I was honestly pissed off that this fuckhead was lying and didn't even care about the ticket any more. I looked at him like "why are you lying about this stupid petty charge? I'm getting the ticket regardless, what is the point of adding that story? You're supposed to stand for truth and justice!" Unfortunately, I wasn't quick witted at the time. I was younger and didn't have the balls to speak up or dispute the case, so I just sank and pleaded guilty, paid the $300 and left. Looking back, I should have asked them to pull his dash cam so they could see how ludicrous his accusation was. I should have said "if he had been in any danger of me hitting him, I would have been hauled to jail that day, or at least gotten a wreckless driving charge." Pissed me off for a long time, though it didn't ruin my opinion of police, just that fucker.

I have known hundreds of state troopers. And like any field, or group of people, there is a wide variation in the attitudes you will find. However, in my experience, state troopers do tend to be more serious, more militaristic, and in areas where there are municipal police, tend to stick to highways and county roads.

State police also typically attend longer academy classes, and thus, are considered(mostly by themselves) to be the elite law enforcement in any area. I am certainly not against more training, but considering how few calls they actually answer, I have seen more action and different types of calls than all the state troopers in my area combined.

I have some good statie stories I will post in a little while after I get my son to bed.

The only experience I have had with them has been positive. One came to the scene when I got hit by some moron while I was exiting the freeway and he was really cool, helped calm me down and waited with me while the other cops (who were fucking idiots) showed up.

The other was a motorcycle one who pulled me over at 3 a.m. when I was leaving the casino. He was cool and although I was speeding he let me go because I hadn't been drinking at all and was very polite.

On another note my friend actually bit a state trooper and got away with it (although he did get a DUI) because the state trooper interfered while a regular cop had him pulled over on the side of the road. Supposedly the other cop testified against the state trooper and made it clear that there would have been no problem if he had just left the situation alone. The whole thing was on tape and it showed that the trooper tried to place my friend in a choke hold for no reason, from behind while he was talking with the other cop.

Is this your friend?

I was let off with a warning in rural west Texas by a State Trooper, he was kind of a prick, but he didn't give me a ticket so I can't complain.

It gets under my skin when I see them patrolling city streets though. Its my opinion that they should stick to the highways, and let the city cops deal with the city streets. Same goes for Sheriff Patrols, they should stick to the county roads and leave the city streets to the city police.

My record is 1-1.

The first time got a ticket and even put in the back of the police car, for a while.

The second time, I just got a warning for no license plate in the front of my car. I had been in a wreck and my plate was pretty much destroyed. I was waiting for a new one in the mail.

He then started acting like a toddler, said "You don't have a plate on the front of your car do you?!" and marched back to his car with the ticket he had already written. I assumed he was adding to the ticket, but instead he just sat there for like 10 minutes then came back and gave me the original ticket and left.

.

that's the oldest trick in the book. When they pull over someone they didn't like, they would get your license and retreat back into their car. When u think that they are just running your information, they are in fact just hanging out in there, killing time. They get pay by the hour and if they are over their shift, then its extra OT. Plus they know it pisses u off.

Some are cool others are dicks. My experience has been mostly positive. As a firefighter, I do get out of many violations, but sometimes troopers have a hard on for us.

Usually because they couldn't hack our academy and had to settle for law enforcement.

:D

Just another street gang looking for my money most of the time.

if they were serving and protecting the public, I think their day to day actions would be different.

This reminds me, anyone use a traffic lawyer for a ticket?

I used to take Ocean Parkway (Long Island) home. One time, I got stopped by a state trooper. He inquired about my fugazi plates and registration. I told him that I was a federal agent and that the vehicle was owned by the government. He looked at my creds and badge, and then trew them back in to the car and said "You're not a real cop." I replied "Well, one day I'm going to be the only other person on this parkway when you are getting your ass kicked and your head stomped. I have a pistol and a shotgun, as well as a baton and spray. But, I'm just going to laugh at you and drive away because I'm not a real cop." He just smirked and walked away. He was a tool. But, there are lots of cops (especially state troopers) who hate federal agents.

Well my only real interaction with state troopers wasn't while driving. When the whole Occupy thing was going on downtown here, the Governor and the Mayor both told the chief of police that he should start kicking them out and he refused stating that they had a constitutional right to use public spaces. So the Governor called in the state troopers to do the dirty work and they went at it with quite some gusto.

My favorite example: A friend of mine is a professional fire performer, fully insured. He was asked to perform as part of a May Day Celebration the occupiers were holding. He brought with him a copy of the city fire code and when the State Troopers told him he couldn't perform he pulled it out and showed them exactly what the law said and that legally he was allowed to, resulting in the best quote I have ever heard from a LEO of any kind: "I don't give a damn what the law says I'll arrest you if I want to."
