State of the Union 2015: Obama threatens vetoes

January 20, 2015, 9:21 PM|In his State of the Union address, President Obama warned Congress against reversing his policies on healthcare, financial regulation and immigration.

yeah presidents tend to not want congress to overturn the policies they have set in place. is this the first time you are hearing of this? did you expect him to sign a repeal of obamacare or financial regulation? you need to try harder to find something to complain about because in reading this thread, you and the rest of the tea party crew are looking pretty childish and ignorant right about now.

When people talk about the deficit they bring up the current 18+ TRILLION dollar deficit. The thing that they don't talk about is the current 93.5+ TRILLION dollar unfunded liabilities that the U.S. holds.

While the republicans want to reform social security and retirement, because they know in a few years it will literally be bankrupt and unfunded anyways so heavens forbid they try and fix it before it breaks...... the democrats say that republicans are evil and hate old and disabled people......

Democrats / Liberals have no care about the unfunded liabilities...... this is the greatest threat to the United States, not terrorism, not global warming, but our 100 TRILLION dollar unfunded liabilities....... the republicans are literally putting things on the table to combat this before it gets too hard to handle and the dems/libs bash them for it...... all while singing the song of compromise and understanding......

pathetic.......[/QUOTE

I agree that it's our most imminent threat...but do you really trust that republicans desire to and have the ability to fix this country's financial woes? They were just as bad if not worse during Bush's 8year reign.

Obama was just making the republicans look like clowns. I can't believe the partisanship displayed by the GOP. Are we really that different? Don't we ultimately want the same things? Or does the GOP hate just to hate?

that's because you are a crazy tea party guy from texas who doesn't grasp even the most simple concepts when it comes to running a country. i heard invest, and if you invest well, there is an roi.

hmm.....

so i hear the words spend, spend, spend, free, free, free, all while you hear the words invest, invest, invest.......

obviously we have different view points.....

riddle me this batman, who's investing and where does the money come from?

and im not sure you wanna bring up ROI and talk government in the same sentence...... simply because there's a track record of extremely poor ROI when the government is involved...... actually, you can't even call it "return" on investment because usually there's no return, just losses.....

.

Actually, the reason I posted it wasn't a lack of understanding that Obama wants to keep his agenda in place, it was a response to another poster (I think it was Glorious Leader and it looks like it has been deleted) where he asked me (responding to a post I made) to point out where Obama talked about vetoing anything in the speech... so I did that.

Obama has been speaking for 30 minutes now and so far the only thing I've heard is FREE FREE FREE. I'm going to get you FREE STUFF......

FREE FREE FREE!!!!!

.

FREE for everyone but the tax payers.. lol

I know enough to know I'm not paying for some lazy fucker to get a free college education.

Exactly, my first year in college I worked 60 hours a week washing dishes at BigBoy. That fueled my motivation to press forward in obtaining my degree and down a path of sucess. The second year I qualified to get Student loans and I cut my work hours to 30 hours a week. Everyone can do it if they truely want to.

Should have concentrated more on studies imo.

Did you guys see the Republican response? Most of these things seem phony as shit to me but the Republican response was especially fake to me.

So how much do conservatives hate hearing that Obama accomplished everything that Republican candidates claimed they would accomplish if they got elected? All except repeal of the ACA, which of course would have been a mistake since it's is a huge success.

I am surprised that all of these folks have not come out and congratulated Obama on an excellent job......LOL!

Obama killed this Country.

You're right! I wish we had higher unemployment, fought in more wars, had lower insurance coverage for all and polluted more. Fucking socialist Nazi that Obama is.

1) Because of Obama’s policies since he became President, 11,472,000 Americans have left the work force.
2) “Fewer Americans are at work today than in April 2000, even though the population since then has grown by 31 million.” — Mortimer Zuckerman

Don't you think massive amounts of baby boomers reaching retirement age might have something to do with that?

3) The number of Americans on welfare has hit record highs.
4) A record 20% of Americans were on food stamps in 2013.

Don't you think that's more of an indicator that people aren't getting payed high enough wages by their employers? People on welfare/foodstamaps aren't necessarily unemployed.

9) Obama has helped drive up the cost of gas by blocking the Keystone Pipeline.

:icon_lol: Stopped reading after that one.
