Tried rewatching Star Wars, just doesn't hold up over time.
 
Star Wars is better but lord of the ring originals are the only movies than come close. It’s like a public hair away.
 
Never liked or got into star wars

I've watched and own the LOTR DVDs

Return of the King is one of the best conclusions to a trilogy imo
 
Star Wars, but LOTR is damn near perfect. Then again I'm a much bigger Sci-Fi than Fantasy fan.
 
The Battle and defense of Helms Deep s ne f the greatest battles ever in Cinema history. The trilogy was amazing. That being said, Darth Vader is the greatest villain of all time. Empire is an all time great movie. I give it to SW despite the Ewoks.
 
I like star wars but LOTR takes it easy got me. Might be the goat trilogy
 
I don't care about any setting or time period where there's no electricity or toiler paper.
 
Man, tough one. I love them both so much. I gotta think about this one.
 
I understand that from a quality perspective, LOTR is better, and I do love it. I just have so much nostalgia tied in to the OT Star Wars that it's hard for me to ever pick against it. Luke was one of my childhood heroes and the ending of ROTJ is still the perfect finale to an amazing story arc. I'm going to pick Star Wars, I can't get over how amazing Luke's journey was and it makes the new films so much more painful.
 
First films, great.

LOTR, Two Towers, alright.

SW, ESB, one of the best films ever made

LOTR, ROTK, meh
SW, ROTJ, meh

SW wins.

Part of it for me is that I know the LOTR books very well and didn't like the changes overall.
