What are people's preferences when it comes to split-finger vs. shooto-style gloves? I'm in the market for a good all-around mma-training glove that has enough padding to spar with, but not so much that it will make grappling difficult.

Also, does anybody have any experience with the gameness primetime mma training gloves? I hear a lot of good things here and there, but I haven't found an in-depth review. I'm narrowing it down to these or the fairtex sparring gloves.

i'm pretty sure someone reviewed the primetimes....

and I prefer shooto-style. but I have a split finger pride style ones too.

what kind of glove do you usually wear?

I prefer split finger. If you are emphasizing standup however, you might like the shooto-style better as they seem to have more fist padding.

There is a review of the Primetimes somewhere. There is also my review of the CSI Hybrids (very, very similar glove) in the review section, and I think it's still on the front page.

my shooto gloves mainly, only because my pride styles are Enson Inoue Pride Style replicas which you can't even buy anymore so I try to not use them.

Overall I like the way the shootos feel anyway.

I keep 2 pairs of SSF shootos in my bag alongside 2 pairs of CSI amateur gloves. I like them both but actually prefer the feel of the shootos even on the the ground. The CSIs are well made and I have them because they are pretty much the standard comp glove around here. However for training any kinds of strikes I like the shootos I feel more comfortable hitting people I actually like with them. I haven't found that they mess up my highly limited grappling game any more or less than other 5-7 ounce glove

I'm fond of both shooto and split finger.

Shooto would be the ideal if you strike lots, split if you are more of a grappler.
