Does Spirulina count as an excellent source of vegetables?

though really it is a single cell algae grown in tropical lakes.

it is better to describe Spirulina as a SUPER FOOD. another one is Chlorella,

i would advise you and everyone to take these super foods.

Spirulina is consider a complete protein and much more digestible than other proteins (still you need protein from beef, eggs, etc). It has practically all of the essential amino acids, contains a bunch of vitamins/minerals, anti-oxidants, enzymes, strengthen the immune system and helps prevent certain types of cancer.

i have been told to not buy spirulina and chlorella that comes from China since it is not reliable. buy the ones that come from Japan or from a reliable source in the United States.

there is a whole slew of information about Spirulina and Chlorella but here is a good source about the two. the guy is not trying to sell you anything since he is not from a company.

Chlorella and Spirulina - superfoods for health

it is alomst 40 pages long and explains alot on how good these two super foods help.

spirulina has a good high amount of Vitamin B12. some folks like myself have problems sleeping at night when taking spirulina, that is why i take it during the morning. others dont get affected by it and can sleep well.

anyway, one final note is that you get more bang for you $$$ if you buy the powder form of Chlorella and Spirulina compare to the pill form. so buy the powder versions of both if you can.

If it is complete then why do you also need beef?

you dont, but spirulina is sold as a supplement and taking alot of it will be expensive.

so unless you are rich or have a lot of money, then it is best to add spirulina and chlorella to your diet while still getting protein, amino acids, vitamins/minerals from other sources.

because you'd turn magnetic from all the iron.

dont listen to anyone who proposes sea vegetables as a serious source of protein

if you are talking about iron reaching toxicity levels then Spirulina, chlorella and other veggies basically has non-heme iron, which doesnt absorb that much compare to heme iron found generally in red meat. practically all the cases i have heard about people getting too much iron in their system was when they where getting it from iron supplements. spirulina and chlorella are not supplements, they are whole foods.

so taking the daily dose of Spirulina (5 grams daily) or Chlorella (3 to 5 grams) wont amount too much. people have taken up to 25 grams of Spirulina (which has more non-heme iron then Chlorella) and have not reported any problems of having iron toxic levels.
