So...Ive been doing MT for about 6 years..Trained in Thailand..Chute Boxe USA a bit and Ive always practiced the spinning back fist but never really used it. Yesterday while sparring I used it about 6 times just for fun and landed about 4 of them. I was like "Holy Shit...It's actually working" Anyone else use it with any effect or reccomend a good time in a fight or sparring to use it? I was just messing around and I think I may have gotten lucky a few times

i like it especially if you mix it with spinning back kick. do a couple spinning backhands to the head, then do a spinning back kick to the gut.

I was throwing out jabs and leg kicks and then I would just throw a spinning back left fist out of nowhere and I think I was just surprising my sparring partners

Set it up. Feint an upper and spin with commitment

Throw something behind it too. Works well on overly agressive guys

I like to set them up by throwing a low kick and then planting the same leg and stepping forward with the backfist or going for a hook and deliberately overcomitting so they'll hopefully step in. Sometimes I land a spinning back elbow rather than a spinning back fist but either way works for me.

Yea...great Idea...try not to throw elbows in sparring of course but in a fight thats a good idea

jump spinning back kick is my new toy.

Watch Genki Sudo has some nice setups with his spinning back fist. I believe in one of them he was just peppering the guy with some jabs circling to the right and then the spinning backfist comes out.

babalu has a nice spinning back fist as well. I hope he catches chuck with it once.

In one fight he actually spun 3 in a row, chasing the guy down with spinning backfists, until one landed square and got him a knockdown.

Genki's are fun to watch but I have a feeling id get caught if I threw 3 in a row

I once did a backfist, wheel kick and then back kick to the leg in succession....I think only the back kick landed though.

Alternating between spinning back kicks to the body and backfists to the head is a good way to get one of those to land. (Now if only those Mortal Kombat spinning leg sweeps worked in real life  )

I like to set up spinning techniques by missing on purpose. Usually they're off a missed lead hook. A missed leg kick is perfect. If you want to miss on purpose, step off to the side a little bit, too, just to put more "oomph" into the spinning technique.

josh thompson has a lightning fast spinning back fist. he did pretty well with it against franca. he mistimed it though when he fought yves and caught a nasty headkick.
