Spike looking to co-promote PBC and Bellator

In an attempt to expand hybrid interest in the combat sports’ audiences, Bellator MMA and Premier Boxing Champions will stage back-to-back shows televised by their broadcast partner, Spike TV.

The Aug. 26 Bellator card will be headlined by a lightweight fight between former UFC champion Benson Henderson and former Bellator featherweight champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire, with the winner poised for a title shot.

The Aug. 27 boxing main event will be headlined by former two-division champion Robert Guerrero (33-4-1, 18 knockouts) against David Peralta (25-2-1, 14 KOs) in a welterweight bout.

“We believe combat sports fans love a great fight,” said Jon Slusser, Spike TV’s senior vice president of sports and specials. “These are two different types of fights, but if we can introduce more fans to each sport, that does nothing but great things for everyone

I think eventually, we will have PBC and Bellator on the same show, kinda like Bellator MMA, and Bellator Kickboxing does.

The ratings have been atrocious for the mixed shows but kickboxing is just flat out unpopular in the US. Maybe it'll be different with boxing but the mixed shows have not done well at all.

Of course they ruin it with Robert Guerrero again as the headliner. Enough already.

Always wondered why people weren't into kickboxing. On the odd occasions I do see it on TV here in the UK I always watch and enjoy it.

It's a gnarly sport.

Big Dan thinks Spike is the network most likely to offer a deal with PBC after their 3 year contract is up.

Small chance of ESPN, but not the bigger primetime networks like Fox, NBC, CBS, etc

No it isn't, pbc doesn't effectively monopolise its sport and pay the fighters in reebok training gear.
