Damn right it did. It perfectly captured the magic and spirit of adventure that a good movie should be. It was an experience that had to be seen in the theatre. I saw it 3 times and every time I walked out you could feel how charged up the entire audience was. Other studios will see this and realize what audiences are looking for.

Not sure. One of the rare movies that got me to go to the theater on my own accord. If it wasn't for my wife dragging there from time to time I'd normally go no more than once or twice a year. But I go to the theater for almost every Tom Cruise movie so it wasn't anything different for me. Same with Christopher Nolan movies, although Tenet was hot garbage.

I voted no. Maverick can only move the needle so much concerning public interest in what Hollywood has to offer. If I thought that Maverick "righted the ship" I'd have voted Yes.

If Hollywood doesn't pull their heads out of their asses old school Hollywood will be dead, and smaller projects that appeal to us on an individual level will be the norm moving forward.

Hollywood doesn't listen to fans as it concerns comics or other beloved properties. Movies are made to send a message instead of to entertain and make money. Audiences are hit over the head with modern virtue signaling that isn't even remotely subtle. These things have to change.

A few aging stars are still the big pulls in Hollywood. Streaming services have made it so you don't need a Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise to have viewership. It's also made it so it's harder to create a breakout star. We're flooded with new names, most of which I don't recall 30 minutes after watching them.

Well said, it's a different type of model this industry is today. TV has taken over quality that is for sure. But I still think people will desire the big screen, surround sound a IMAX theatre gives to you like no other besides people who are rich and can afford in buying a big screen home theatre with surround sound.

Avatar has made over 2 billion, so it's still strong the movie going industry.

Yeah, I like seeing blockbuster movies in the theater so I imagine others still feel that way. I've had too many bad experience with people talking, using their phones, kids kicking my seat, or people trying to save 6 seats in a row for friends that show up after the previews start so I'm hesitant to commit to going to simply "experience it on the big screen".

Getting into a fight over "saved seats" isn't something that should happen and I shouldn't have to turn around and tell someone to get their kid under control. If the movies aren't up to snuff and the theater experience is hit or miss I'm more likely to wait until a movie hits streaming services and skip paying 12 bucks to be antagonized and pissed off in public.

It sucks but it guarantees I'm comfortable and able to focus on the movie.

I think it got them a reprieve. But we are in trouble. Theater prices are just too much when people all have 55 inch flat screens at home. No need to spend 100 on candy and popcorn that you can do at home for pennies on the dollar either. Also do not have to deal with this cell phone addicted culture opening their phones and texting during the movie every 5 seconds.
My main issue is the movies that Amazon and Netflix put out as originals are usually lower quality, and frankly not that good.

Yeah maybe it's because I'm older now but the theatrical experience isnt as fun now. The amount of young people texting with full brightness on their phones is getting out of hand. When I went to see avatar there was dude in front of me doing that all throughout the movie. I probably coughed 1000 times to give him a hint that he never got.

When I went to see the batman there was a kid in one of the front rows with his phone on full brightness showing his friend photos of some girl he was talking too. And let me tell you I was several rows behind and I could almost see her face. Luckily a Dad sitting behind him with his daughter told him to turn it off.

Did anyone else find the movie technically inferior compared to the original? The conclusion teetered on being laughable and I was just waiting for the credits to roll.

I am speaking on everything from the parachute sequence after. If you stopped watching the movie before then that's okay with me, too. More Hollywood bs where the actual real world is an afterthought

Couldn't have another death.

Yes and no.

it depends if movie studios follow its example for double down on woke corporate garbage.

Maverick was amazing, had a diverse cast and a solid simple story.

The movie was a fun time but it lacked soul. I enjoyed it tremendously but it was just a casual good time

It didn't save anything though it just gave a pulse to the theater post covid. Think it just gave them more time before the theaters start to disappear. Some will remain open just much less than we have now

Tom just can not miss. The GOAT movie star. I've seen his estate, it's fcuking insane.
