I like how when a neighborhood cleans up the crime, the value goes up and that's seen as some kind of "racist" oppression because now hoodlums can't afford to pay for or live near those once crappy dilapidated crime-ridden areas.

Of course the value is going to go up when there's less crime. The crime itself was like a very heavy life/money tax that was lifted. The inherent value can't possibly just stay the same or go down after the conditions improve to a great degree.

Pro Tip: whenever you make improvements on your house, be sure to say it like "I'm gentrifying my house this Saturday, gonna install a cedar deck and a trellis." When your wife sews a tear in your shirt, she is gentrifying it. Same when you wipe sauce off your chin during a meal or wash your hands afterward. I hope politicians are able to gentrify the environmental problems like water droughts and global pollution some day.
