Hey guys,

I'm switching back and forth from boxing and thai...

I was thinking of getting the rival evolution sparring glove or ringside safety glove, but I heard from some people that they're not too good for clinching.

I really don't want to have 2 sparring gloves, so I was wondering if the fairtex sparring gloves are a good compromise for both

http://www.fairtex.com/Fairtex-Pro-Sparring-Gloves-p/bgv5.htm

I just want to make sure I get a glove thats nice and soft (so not to piss off sparring partners) and can be used for both.

Anyone whose used gloves for both, please do let me know, it'd be greatly appreciated.

I use Boon gloves for both boxing and muay thai sparring. No problems so far.

are the boons, fairtex, twins gloves as soft as the ringside sparring gloves?

I put on the supposed hayabusa 16 oz sparring gloves and there were a lot more dense, definitely felt harder.

I have 16 oz triumph heat seekers for pads and bag work, I think a pair of the fairtex or boons should be good.

I have never tried Ringside sparring gloves. Based on the reviews i can assume they are very soft. To answer your question, boons are soft once broken in, fairtex gloves depend on model, twins gloves are soft large pillow like gloves. Out of the many models of fairtex i only tried bgv 1.
If you don't mind lace up gloves, BGL 3 would be a good choice. You can find a review on youtube. Hope this helps.

If you care about your training partner, try not to get hard dense gloves. They hurt. :icon_lol:

You didn't say a budget so...

Winnings lace-up:
1) Soft so you can save you're nice to your sparring partners.
2) Feels great.
3) Palm opens well for clinch
4) Custom colors/designs when ordering through Rakuten

Too much? Then you should specify a budget

thanks for the reply guys,

I'm going with the combat sports imc training gloves, which are the same as the ringside imf ones,

it has 2.5 inches of padding lol, that's probably as cushy as it gets, if I have problems with muay thai sparring ie. in the clinch, I may just pick up a pair of fairtex sparring gloves down the road.

But I'm doing mostly sparring for boxing now, so I'll stick to the imf gloves.

Well, Boon is going through a silence of the lambs type of transformation. They're getting re-worked, things fixed, updated design etc., after which they will be resplendent and glorious (supposedly)

But if you want to take a chance and get the non-updated ones now you have a few choices. Kstar Gear (who posted 3 above you) is a distributor located directly in the USA, but they don't have many 16oz (sparring size) ones left. They will have the updated Boons when those become available AFAIK. They have had very quick shipping and nice prices when I ordered from them

Title Boxing seems to have some left at the moment

The other places I was going to list seem to have dried up completely of Boon gloves in the meantime, even the overseas suppliers. Ewps

I checked title last night and they are back ordered. It seems like we almost just have to wait for the new stuff. But then I think their gear will be different from what it is now and I don't know if that's a good thing.

I've had a hard time finding boons right now. Anyone know where you can find them?

Ndmartialarts.com

Ive ordered my boons there and art is a great guy to deal with. Highly recommended

adidas adistars are my go to sparring gloves very small profile for a 16oz and nice tight fist.
