i have been training boxing for about 3 months now and my instructor thinks i might be ready to start mixing it up a bit and spar. ive done some light sparing to the body and im used to that now. im just asking for some tips to keep in mind when i step into the ring for the first time all advice is appriciated

Just relax and try not to let emotion take over. Keep you head calm and remember that you're there to work, not prove who's dick is bigger.

Another thing, the most important rule of sparring, if he goes "oops" you oops his ass right back.

You should always focus on your weaknesses in a sparring session.

Excuse me, I don't mean always, but it's a good place to start.

Eventually you can focus on different areas to work during sessions, or whatever your coach tells you needs work.

be relaxed not tense..be fluid...keep ur hands up, try ur basic combos that u know, but remember control and dont over think everything...oh remember to breathe alot of guys forget an get winded quickly

I have a tendency to throw lazy punches when I get tired. A good training partner will remind you not to do that!
Keep in mind that you are not going to be perfect. A lot of people beat themselves up because they don't do well right of the bat. Sparing is just another training technique. Have fun and learn all you can.

AND KEEP YOUR HANDS UP!!!!!!

Move after throwing combinations, don't just sit there and admire your work. Never move straight back. If you get hurt move or wrap him up, don't just sit there in one spot trying to block.

i can assure you that your left shoulder WILL get tired the first few times your spar

you wont get too nervous, especiially since its your first time so you rcoach would be shouting instructions at you at all times and tell you what to do and what not to do

your going to get punched in the face. prepare yourserlf

Don't lose your composure, even if you get tagged harder than you expect.

Relax, ive been sparing for 8 months now and i still dont breath properly. I dont have a problem with getting punched, and i started sparing very very quickly, but its just diffrent when you have so much on your mind and you somehow forget to breath. lol

Its fun though enjoy it you can tell when someone is being a dick and just get a new partner, you will get hit hard every once and a while an you will also hit someone hard every now and then, dont panic just try to be relaxed.

thank you to all that replyed i had my first sparing session today and it went pretty good

it was pretty light though

whatever happens, keep your hands up...and as someone already said, don't let your emotions control. Just be cool, and try to learn from the mistakes.
