Da fuq?

All Sony needs to do is develop Venom, Carnage, and the Sinister Six. That is the perfect Spiderverse phase one. Why are they fucking up with all these peripheral characters?

having seen sandman, mysterio and vulture, will we ever see the sinister 6 though?

4/6 of the Sinister Six have been introduced already. Vulture, Shocker and Mac Gargan (Scorpion) were in Homecoming and Mysterio is probably still alive.

Sony Pictures Reportedly Taps Director SJ Clarkson to Develop MADAME WEB Movie

ObnQnq5.jpg

Though audiences will have to wait until 2021 for Morbius and Venom 2 to hit the big screen, Sony Pictures is continuing to build up its slate of Marvel films. Veteran TV director S.J. Clarkson has signed on to develop the first female-centric movie from Sony’s catalog of Marvel characters, sources tell Variety.

While it’s unconfirmed at the time who the character at the center will be, insiders say there is a strong possibility that the film will be based on the Madame Web comic-book character.

At the moment, there isn’t a writer on board to pen the screenplay, nor a star attached to lead the movie. Sources say there is a possibility that the studio is looking for an A-list actor to join and then hire a writer to develop the film around them.

In the comics, Madame Web is depicted as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis and thus was connected to a life support system that looked like a spider web. Due to her age and medical condition, Madame Web never actively fought any villains. For that reason, sources have stressed it’s possible the project could turn into something else. The studio has a list of possible stars, such as Charlize Theron and Amy Adams, but stress that nobody has committed or even met to for the part yet.

As for Clarkson, the director has spent the last decade cutting her teeth in the TV realm working on shows including Banshee, Bates Motel and Succession. This isn’t her first time directing a Marvel character, either. She helmed multiple episodes on Netflix’s Marvel TV show Jessica Jones.

You could probably argue in the right hands, Venom and Carnage could carry the villain load by themselves.

...but in this day and age (28 years later) they'd mess Carnage up.

Madame web would fit into the spideyverse Series well as animation imo but after that no thank you

Only way this works is if the villains team up and she recruits them for a secret wars style story line. Venom, carnage morbius and kraven have to help the beyonder or something. Even that sounds kinda retarded.

Cast and the Characters They are Portraying in Sony's MADAME WEB Reportedly Revealed

Sony Pictures has made a lot of peculiar choices with its "Marvel Universe," with Morbius' baffling post-credits scene chief among them.

Spider-Man remains in the MCU for now, leaving this reality without a web-slinger of its own. That's led to Sony shifting focus to his villains, tough that does look set to change with 2023's Madame Web. There's been heaps of speculation about the film featuring various female superheroes, and a new report appears to reveal all of them.

We've rounded each of those up for you below, and yes, the name "Parker" does indeed come up.

It's unclear how much about these characters Sony intends to reveal prior to Madame Web's arrival in theaters, so be warned that potential SPOILERS do follow!

Dakota Johnson Is...Cassandra Webb

cassandra-webb332347522807734912-1024x576.jpg

Despite what we've seen in set photos, Dakota Johnson is said to be playing the Cassandra Webb version of Madame Web.

There had been speculation she might be playing Julia Carpenter, but those images of Johnson in a red jacket are either a misdirect or we're getting an amalgamation of the two characters. Julia will be in the film, however, though we'll get to her shortly.

In the comics, Madame Web is blind and linked up to a life support system that resembles a web, and her psychic abilities give her access to the Web of Life and Destiny.

Sydney Sweeney Is...Julia Carpenter

julia-carpenter7352367849691412216-1024x576.jpg

There's been a lot of speculation about Sydney Sweeney's role in Madame Web but she is, in fact, playing Julia Carpenter. The second Madame Web after Cassandra is killed by Kraven the Hunter and his family, Julia once held the mantle of Spider-Woman and was a great superhero in her own right.

Celeste O’Connor Is...Mattie Franklin

mattie-franklin5900643845511363161-1024x576.jpg

Mattie Franklin is another of those 90s characters who have fallen by the wayside since first being introduced, but she has close ties to many of the characters listed here. She even filled in as Spider-Man for a time, though the source of her powers is incredibly interesting.

Obtaining them during a mystic ceremony known as the Gathering of Five, it was later revealed that Mattie's abilities had essentially been "stolen" from previous Spider-Women.

Isabela Merced Is...Anya Corazon

anya-corazon3399429837214718571-1024x576.jpg

Isabela Merced made a name for herself in Dora and the Lost City of Gold, but Madame Web looks set to be her biggest role to date.

Anya Corazon is also known as Araña or Spider-Girl, and her powers are also rooted in the mythological side of Spider-Man's world. In recent years, she's been a huge part of many Multiversal adventures featuring spider-heroes, and there have already been rumblings about a spinoff film for the character.

Adam Scott Is...Ben Parker

ben-parker250689871792264573-e1660308155444.jpg

Yes, you read that correctly. Severance star Adam Scott is playing Uncle Ben, though this story clearly takes place years before he's the old man gunned down by a burglar.

We've seen this iteration of the character is a paramedic and that he seemingly works with Cassandra Webb, and making him a supporting character in Madame Web...well, it's certainly an interesting decision on Sony's part.

Emma Roberts Is...Mary Parker

mary-parker7350580603260082387-1024x576.jpg

We don't know whether Ben's brother, Richard Parker, or his future wife May Reilly will be part of Madame Web. However, his future sister-in-law, Mary, is going to show up. And she'll be pregnant with Peter Parker. Set photos have confirmed that Mary is pregnant, so this is one heckuva twist.
