“I will just share with you, if he goes into this bout and goes, ‘Wow, nine minutes is nothing. I’m used to going out there for 36 minutes, a 12-round atmosphere. That’s what I’m used to,’” Sonnen said. “’I barely even had to train for this.’ The other side of that coin is that if Floyd goes out there and starts to give rounds away.

“If Floyd gives away the first round, feeling the guy out or getting used to him,” he continued. “He’s only got one more round that he can give away. And if there’s any part of Floyd – and I believe that there is – there is some reason that he is continuing to press the narrative of an exhibition, which would make no sense to do by the world of promotion. He’s demoting what it is he’s getting ready to go out to do.”

Sonnen also believes that Rizin may not exactly honor their end of the deal.

“If he thinks even if he has a legally written contract that it’s going to be an exhibition, meaning at the end of three rounds or at the end of nine minutes they both smile and hug and walk away, he’s wrong,” Sonnen said.

“I don’t know if Floyd knows MMA well enough to know that he’s in a fight. And the only thing that makes it real is if you’re keeping score.”

Sonnen ended with some strong words, predicting the outcome of the event. He says that if it reaches the full three rounds, Tenshin will be awarded a decision victory regardless of how the bout unfolds. He says Mayweather may be unknowingly entering a contest likely to end in a “screwjob” that’s meant to build up their young rising star.

“Mark your calendars and make your bets. Floyd Mayweather will be 50-1 after this event.”

Interesting take.

I still don't think this fight takes place.

Call me skeptical.

Make sure to use Lord Chael's promo code when you bet against Floyd.

If it happens it's a 3 round exhibition and won't be on his record.
The Conor fight should be treated as an exhibition fight too and shouldn't be on his boxing record either.

there's zero impact to either the 50 or the 0 from an exhibition......if it happens.

He lost to Castillo in the first bout, was outlanded 3-1 in power shots.

He should have a loss on his record regardless.

Mayweather will be fine, Sonnen will say anything for hits, he's a whore.

Yup, because as we all know, boxing is judged based purely on who lands more shots over the course of the whole fight.

Is it was this shit. If up to the judges he's screwed. But idk his boxing style tho. Japanese girl

Floyd would never take a fight he didn't know for sure he could win. How do you think he 50-0.

It'll be slated as an exhibition match until the bell of the first round rings. Rizin is going to make Tenshin a household name by defeating Mayweather.

Yup, because as we all know, boxing is judged based purely on who lands more shots over the course of the whole fight.

It’s judged on the 10 point must system and he clearly lost more rounds than he won.

If it were pride scoring he would have lost as well.

Ill sit down and get up and watch it if it happens

Exactly and Floyd has the best people working for him, they won't let him walk into anything that would could go on his record as a loss. Even an untrained Floyd as this age will still easily outbox Tenshin who is also a lot smaller than Floyd. Floyd will make it look easy for just 3 rounds. It's not like Floyd blows up in weight when he's out of camp. He always looks in fighitng shape to me even though he's retired.

"If it were PRIDE scoring".. man, it's a boxing match.

He didn't "clearly" lose more rounds than he won. That fight could've easily gone either way and acting otherwise isn't honest. Mayweather won most of the early rounds and that saved him the fight. The only reason it's remembered by Mayweather-haters (and I think Mayweather is kind of a POS and rooted against him in most of his bouts) as anything resembling a "clear" Castillo victory is because of Harold Lederman scoring it for Castillo, when media scorecards were pretty much split between the two, and the fact that Castillo ended quite a bit stronger over the second half of the fight. But there was nothing decisive about it when judged round by round. It was very close.

I generally agree that Floyd has a way higher chance of losing a 3 round fight than a 12 round fight.
