And I hate it. I hate the parents and the whole attitude that comes with football. I grew up in Texas and played when I was little. All the dad's walking around with the chests out and standing around with their arms crossed talking how they scored 4 touched in HS. Everyone acting like it's all srs but it just a game. My son is all super into and I will support him with a smile but I am the guy sitting on my phone trying not to make eye contact with the other parents.

Man, I don't know if I'd put my kid into football with everything we know about CTE today. My dad put me into judo and boxing as a kid, but one of the two times I've been KOd was on the field playing a Sunday game with the boys. Getting blind sided is no joke as many know much better than me.

I suppose it all depends on the age of kids playing and the rules though. Like I doubt 6 year olds are out for blood, or could deliver damaging hits.

Yeah I have some fear in me as a parent. I cant lie about it. Coach is preaching safety first and keep the head up as I type this

I'll sound like a pussy, but I'd see if you can get him hyped about some sort of non-contact sport. I'm echoing the CTE stuff. When I was a kid I boxed, played basketball and also played chess. In hindsight, I wish I focused on chess for what it is worth.

The mom might get it first. She bitching about the kids having to were a masks to another mom. She needs to just STFU. The kids aren't complaining.
Those who force kids to wear mask should get teh jab imo.

She could get a scholarship off something like that and never risk getting brain trauma. That's awesome you are doing that buddy. I'm teaching my nephew and he is pretty into it. I had to sell him on it considering he has video games but he liked hearing all the stories I made about the different pieces.

Yeah, getting a helmet under the chin is gonna have consequences, but how about the long term effects of depriving developing bodies of oxygen? Especially on the field, out in the open, needing to feed oxygen to hard working muscles and organs? Seems counterproductive to me.

Having said that, all in all at least the kid is out there being active and developing discipline and hand eye coordination.

Yea, went to HS there, football is life down there and a lot of dads are gonna take it super seriously or relive their young years vicariously through their kids. No need to go all crazy over it. As long as your kid is having fun, that's what matters. I personally wouldn't let me kid do it, knowing what we know now but I won't beat the dead horse that others have already brought up.

My toddler started soccer and he couldn't give af less for it. Lol. I somewhat admire the "don't care about the crowd/what's popular" attitude he has. I hope it it remains.

Don’t worry about CTE until high school and then that’s depending on the position with each position comes different frequency injuries you have to worry about

Plus he just threw up all over the backseat of my wife car. Coach ran them hard today.

First day, so kids are still finding out where they gonna be but looks like might be RB or WR.

Its time to start him on a healthy does of tren. If you start now, you will reap the rewards in 15 years.
