Is it just me, or does anyone else get the feeling that McGregor won't go back down to FW? It looked like his heart was breaking when asked whether he would go back to featherweight. Also, now that he allowed himself to put on more mass for this fight, it'll be that much harder to make it down.

So his answer that his next fight would be at featherweight didnt matter to you?

I'm skeptical that he'll be able to get back down to 145.

He'll try to do it for the money, but his body might betray him

After getting beat decisively by a legit top 10 lightweight, he will for sure be headed back down to midget-division.

If he can make the weight he will. His value is higher as a champion and he's got 2 money fights with Edgar and Aldo waiting for him.

FW is all he has to fall back on, we just saw how he'd fare at LW. He's not ready to give everything up. He'll do what he has to to make weight.

Why? He's done it before, and he's still in his prime. No reason he can't.

Because it was getting continuously harder for him to do it before he added the extra bulk. I think he's outgrown the weight.

I think he goes whereever the biggest fights are. And since he lost I think the fight that will sell the most now is him defending his belt whether it's Aldo or Frankie. Any other fight would be confusing to fans and harder to sell.

I understand that those may be his intentions but his facial expressions and body language made me feel like he is VERY reluctant. Besides, even if he is 100% committed to going back down, I'm not confident that he can make it back down. Weight cutting just gets harder with time especially when you allow your body to grow into a new weight class. That's why GSP always said that a move to 185 would be a permanent commitment.

Well, it is true that he might not make the cut as well this time around. I'm not sure what he was ballooning up to between camps before, but if 169 is significantly more that the previous upper range, yeah, he'll be fucked. No way of knowing whether that's the case or not.

Doesn't really matter though, because I don't think he'll have any more success at 145 than he would at 55, so I do think he should stay there, if the cut is generally easier.

Right now, he should vacate the FW title, and Edgar and Aldo fight for it. McGoober can fight Pettis to try staying relevant and Nate can fight Eddie for the next title shot after El Cucuy breaks the remains of Khabib and is in turn broken by RDA.

I tink Fedderweight is his cheddar weight. The little man gets smoked anywhere else

After getting choked out like that I think he will want to go back to 145.. the problem is, the cut to 145 was already a horrible one for him, now that he bulked up and IVs are banned, his body might simply not be able to make the cut without some serious time to diet down and lose the extra weight

He might be forced to stay at LW, where his main weapon is no where near as effective as it was at 145

That's what I'm thinking, he looks like he's on the verge of death after that fw cut. Conor looks more gaunt than matthew mcconaughey in the Dallas buyers club, and his character had aids.

He's making millions but if he keeps cutting to 145 he would be fucking himself up. Not worth it.
155 is a good intermediate.

He has no choice to but either
A. Turn back into starving Ethiopian McGregor and defend the 145 belt.

Or

B. Vacate the title and fight through the gauntlet that is the 155 division.

He chooses A and he's looking at permanent damage to his kidneys and risking missing weight and forfeiting the title plus he still risks losing.

He chooses B and with 2 losses he's fucked. At least he made a few mil.
