Something I have noticed about GSP for some time now.

I have noticed for about, I would guess, 4 to 5 fights back that every time GSP would shadowbox or hit the mitts he would predominantly be in southpaw stance. After I saw the stance that far back I was more keen to noticing him doing it in some of his more recent fights during his training montages.

I don't specifically remember GSP implementing a southpaw stance in any of his more recent fights. But I think this one might be the one that he tries to use his southpaw stance.

The threat that Hendricks holds in his stand up might make him implement southpaw stance. I actually thought that he would maybe try in the Diaz fight, but it makes sense that he didn't because he could take Diaz down anytime he had trouble. That won't be the case at least on paper with Hendricks.

And also on a side bar note he switched his stance from conventional to southpaw.

PS I am writing this on my phone and am not tech savvy enough to find evidences for you. But thank God for Siri because she typed this whole b!tch for me.

i never noticed, but now i'm keen to check out some footage myself. but i have no doubt that gsp will implement the best striking strategy against hendricks, whether it's from the southpaw or orthodox stance. in fact i imagine he'll show both in this fight.

Based on how giddy John Wayne Parr seemed about GSP having some new tricks up his sleeve and how GSP switched to southpaw in the weigh-in staredown, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw more of the southpaw stance from GSP in this fight. Since Hendricks' power shot is his overhand left from the southpaw stance, GSP might try to neutralize that with southpaw jabs. GSP undoubtedly has the kicking advantage, so this might be his strategy to shut down Hendricks' boxing (if you want to call it that).

p.s. not saying Hendricks' punches are ineffective, just that ducking your head down and throwing bombs is only taught at the Dan Henderson school of boxing

GSP by uppercut and left head kick.

u think it's possible he accidentally forgot his stance?

either he intentionally switched stances to get in hendricks' head

or

he switched because he was facing a southpaw and went to southpaw himself for a better photo op.

Why didn't you just tell Siri to post a video of this?? Wow you and Siri suck!

Great analysis TS. I didn't even notice it either.

We'll see what GSP does tomorrow night

To follow up on the thread starter's comments....

Did anyone noticed THIS tonight at the weigh-ins? I didn't think about it until I saw the still image.

GSP is holding up his LEFT fist and pointing at it. Is he telling us something? Methinks Georges has got a surprise for Hendricks tomorrow night.

His boxing will definitely be on display tomorrow night. I'm expecting a lot of quick jabs.
