Something fishy is going on. Or Conor would have been stripped.

Let me start of saying, I thought the retirement announcement was real until I thought of this. As soon as Jones got in the car incident, UFC had no problem stripping him of his title. As soon a Conor announce retirement, UFC have no problem removing him from UFC 200, but they will not strip him of the title? It would have been perfect for another real title fight for UFC 200. I think the UFC knows what's Conor is doing. I have also said since the Diaz rematch got announced that I don't think Conor will ever make featherweight again, and UFC knows it, so they are both milking his title reign as much as possible.

Jones was a PR nightmare. Conor didn't retire after breaking the law or getting in a scandal. They don't have to strip him until the last moment which is months away. If he changes his mind, he'll be back on the card and retain the title. If he doesn;t, they'll remove the interim part from the Aldo vs Frankie fight.

They never stripped Randy.

Only because they wanted to hold his fight with Fedor up in the courts. If they stripped him it would have been legally harder to block the fight.

Yeah. They'll likely strip Conor, I'm just saying last time a Champ did something remotely similar...

Lol @ them stripping Conor. If he truly tells them he's retired, only then would they strip him. They haven't even thought about stripping him.

Conor probably isn't sure if he wants to retire. Seems like a tantrum gone too far and no one in Conors circle telling him how silly it is.

I cant help to wonder if he had beat Diaz.. Lawler or GSP at 200. Im hoping he doesnt retire and faces Edgar in new york for the title.

Dana said he doesn't think Conor is really going to retire but if he does, Aldo/Edgar will be for the vacant title. The fight is 3 months away and they're going to fight anyway, so they could make it for the vacant title the day of and it wouldn't change anything. A little odd to retire over twitter so they're giving him a chance to change his mind.

You dont strip a retired fighter..
Name one fighter that retired as a champ and got stripped.
I cant recall any.

Conor's chucked his toys out of the pram......but the UFC knows the relationship is saveable and won't strip him immediately and upset their biggest cash cow

They're giving him a week or two to stop being a diva and behave like a man before taking drastic steps

They haven't even thought about stripping him.
I have.

Jones was stripped because he refused to fight Johnson and there was 0 negotiation.

This is a negotiation tactic being played out very publicly.

If you're retired then you don't have the belt so there is no need of stripping. You relinquish the belt the instant you retire.
Not difficuilt.
But bullshits and tricks occur because money.
