IMO Rose won 3 rounds to 2
Fightmetric.com reports that Joanna out struck Rose 140 to 105. Many like to use that factor (including Joanna herself) as a reason why she should have got the nod in the fight. Its very surprising to me that some fans and fighters dont know how the system works.
Sure maybe Joanna out struck Rose in the total fight. However that is not how they score fights.
Many will already know this, if you do then no need to read further.
Each individual round starts the stats over.
Almost as if each round is its own fight. The amount of strikes thrown in one round is ALL that counts for that scored round.
For example...if Joanna landed 140 strikes on Rose in just the 1st round....and was unable to land another punch for the next 4 rounds while Rose took over the striking for those next 4 rounds... whether Rose lands 15 or 30 each of those rounds Rose wins those rounds as JJ wins only the first. (Of course Im not including other aspects of the fight, only the strikes count).....It doesnt matter how many punches/kicks you landed in the fights entirety. They score round by round ad its disappointing Joanna needs to bring that up to justify why she should have won.
Besides, its a given for longest time, the champion always gets leeway when the fight is close. If you want to be the champion you better not leave it to judges. Joanna DID A GREAT JOB but Rose is a 25 year old just entering her prime.
