Some think Joanna beat Rose in the rematch because she outstruck Rose

IMO Rose won 3 rounds to 2

Fightmetric.com reports that Joanna out struck Rose 140 to 105. Many like to use that factor (including Joanna herself) as a reason why she should have got the nod in the fight. Its very surprising to me that some fans and fighters dont know how the system works.

Sure maybe Joanna out struck Rose in the total fight. However that is not how they score fights.
Many will already know this, if you do then no need to read further.

Each individual round starts the stats over.
Almost as if each round is its own fight. The amount of strikes thrown in one round is ALL that counts for that scored round.

For example...if Joanna landed 140 strikes on Rose in just the 1st round....and was unable to land another punch for the next 4 rounds while Rose took over the striking for those next 4 rounds... whether Rose lands 15 or 30 each of those rounds Rose wins those rounds as JJ wins only the first. (Of course Im not including other aspects of the fight, only the strikes count).....It doesnt matter how many punches/kicks you landed in the fights entirety. They score round by round ad its disappointing Joanna needs to bring that up to justify why she should have won.

Besides, its a given for longest time, the champion always gets leeway when the fight is close. If you want to be the champion you better not leave it to judges. Joanna DID A GREAT JOB but Rose is a 25 year old just entering her prime.

Fight metric is a flawed system.

You do realise the round by round stats contradict your theory right?

Joanna outstruck Rose in every single round, all 5 of them. And leg kicks count.

Rose won that fight

I think JJ outlanded Rose every round though. I gave it to Rose a clear 48-47, but quality vs volume can be a real thing. Like lots of Lawler's recent decision wins

who landed the better strikes out of the 2? that would be Rose, pitter patter shit doesnt score as well as a strike that causes damage

Significant strikes >>>>> pitter patter. Joannas face looked like sloth afterwards.

Lets be honest. It was 50/50 until the takedown at the end of round 5. That sealed the deal in my eyes, Rogans eyes and obviously the judges eyes.

In some instances, Fight metrics will be misleading.

Perfect example here. But of course the queen of Excuseville will try to convince herself and her purple pillow lite that it proves she won. She just cant cope with someone else being above her at 115lbs. Sad.

That was a great fight! If Joanna picks up a few wins I wouldn’t be against seeing them go again. I know she’s lost two now, and that is one of the big negatives of immediate rematches. But that was a relatively close fight and exciting as well. I’m alright with a third fight.

I don't see the controversy. I thought it was a pretty clear 3-2 for even a 4-1 for Rose. I watched the fight with a bunch of casuals and not one person thought Joanna won.

The only people who think Joanna won.

Beating someone based on just numbers is Greg Jackson bullshit. Anyone who gameplans to win a 48-47 decision deserves to lose.

I thought JJ won by outstriking, I also thought Nate Diaz beat Mcgregor and Condit beat lawler by outstriking, oh well.

It's not by this logic, as Joanna had more strikes in EVERY round. It's the quality of the strikes. I've addressed this in my thread, and the pictures show the outcome.

Exactly why fight metric is only good for stats and nothing else.

Leg kicks count, but if you get beat up while landing more leg kicks than your opponents total strikes they're rendered meaningless.

Fights luckily are judged on the fight.

Rose won, JJ missed a trick not wrecking Roses lead leg.

na I thought Rose was landing the better shots in the 5th even before the takedown. which I didnt expect because JJ had the momentum going into the 5th

leg kicks count, but rose's offense was more significant in no less than three of the rounds.

i thought it was probably tied 2-2 going into R5. in 5, i thought rose was edging it and winning, then she landed the takedown. relatively easy fight to score for a five round, somewhat closely contested championship fight.
