HUGE respect to Ngannou for showing up ready and not being intimidated. Regardless of the outcome it’s pretty cool to see all of MMA coming together to rightfully laugh at boxing. Fury could distance himself from this if he whoops Usyk but people won’t forget. If a boxer came to MMA and had even half that success against a top MMA fighter everyone would be shouting it from the rooftops so it’s only fair game. Big win for MMA.

It’s pretty satisfying. Most of the non-MMA internet seems to agree with the sentiment as well. I love boxing, just dislike Fury.

Crazy how the MMA community now celebrates when a mma fighter doesn’t get the shit beat out of them in boxing.

Francis lost.

Yeah. No one (including mainstream sports outlets) seems to care that he lost, though. That kinda says it all. Fury was the biggest loser of the night, even in victory.

I mean

I wouldnt mind them celebrating if the fight was good, and the judges still screwed him.

But it was a pretty bad, dissapointing fight. Its impressive cos its Big Frank's first ever boxing match, and who he was in there with, but not impressive or entertaining to watch.

Still some will fuckin take it. Boxing def deserves to take some lumps of their own,but this was a bit unsatisfying for me.

There's nothing crazy about an MMA fan seeing this fight as a moral victory for MMA. It was. Very close fight with a top guy and all the highlights belonged to Ngannou. Answer honestly, how do you think tonight's fight would have gone if it had been an MMA ruleset? Do you think Fury would have survived three rounds?

Francis' physyque was lookin on point tonight, really cut and not carrying around the usual flab around the belly

That right away told me he took this fight very seriously...also his composure and pace were very mature for someone who hasnt boxed profesionally. He made a good transition just like Anderson.

A boxer has beat a former ufc champion in mma , only took him 9 seconds to do it

Thing is, Francis showed up and trained for his Super Bowl. Fury just needed to put on an exhibition match for 10 rounds and move on to his next fight. Fury is still champ, Francis just managed to make it competitive.

Fury's first couple punches right out of the gate might have dropped Ngannou. But Fury in general would likely do terrible in MMA.

This is definitely a moral victory for MMA mostly do to the fact that fans in general seem to not understand anything at all about boxing.

This was never going to be an easy fight. A guy like Derrick Lewis, prime JDS would pose serious problems for alot of boxers too depending on styles(and mostly just at heavyweight)

Remember when mercer came to mma and beat tim sylvia? It caused a mini uproar on the forums but if it wouldve taken place in the ufc it would have made much more noise and impact

Fury sucked tonight.
No ifs and or buts.
Win or lose,he sucked.
Guy was goin around boasting that fighting Usyk was beneath him and then he barely gets by a dude in his pro debut. Embarassing.

Bro, he arguably beat the boxing lineal HW champion and had never professionally boxed. Could you imagine if Fury came into MMA and went to a split decision with Jon Jones? There is no way this should have been a close fight.

No he didn't.
I know. Record books says he lost.
He didn't.
Freaking robbery.
Robbery.

The post fight show, all they could talk about was Francis Ngannou.
Reminds me of Rocky 1 a bit.
He lost the split decision and people were calling out Apollo for not demolishing him.

The question is: What happens in a rematch?
I see two things: Now they have tape on Ngannou.
But: He's still improving.
Maybe he's just a bad matchup for Fury. It doesn't mean he can beat Wilder.
Francis lost.
