Guys, what do you think of "The African Assassin"? I think he is the first African-born guy who competed in the UFC. He was a fair fighter, but scoring Pride wins over Antonio Nogueira and Ricardo Arona is not an easy job. Your thoughts?

That predator mask he wore in walk ins tired him out according to chael. He never practiced that and had trouble breathing in it I guess

Probably the some of the best back-to-back KO wins in the sport. What's also interesting is that he holds a win over Jan Blanchowicz who is currently a top 5 ranked LHW but people only seem to remember his victories over Arona and Little Nog.

I think the same, Deontay Wilder complained about the costume in the match versus Fury, so yeah, Sokoudjou could've lost his cardio during the walk-in too.

I started watching MMA in 2010 so I completely missed out on his peak in PRIDE. My only real exposure to him was his forgettable Bellator run and random fights on Youtube.

With that said, fuck him for (allegedly) using loaded gloves. Seeing him get blasted in Valor was satisfying.

There was like a one month span in 2007 where fighting this guy was a death sentence.

He's a journeyman that had some really fun wins. I actually really enjoyed his fight a few years ago with Paul Buentello in Abu Dhabi Warriors that was a weird but entertaining bout.

I have met him once in U.S , he is a very nice guy.

I wish he could have a better team behind him, no doubt he could become the best fighter in the world if he had the right mindset. Back in 2007 he came in from nowhere.

Very talented guy who had great moments but fell short of a great career.

A very underrated win for Machida. At that point Sokodjou was on a meteoric rise even though it turned out to be hot air in the end. I followed his career for a while, hoping he would bounce back. Very exciting, explosive fighter but limited technique and cardio. I still wonder whether his loss to Minowa in the super hulk final was a fix or not.

And a loss to Jan too. My favorite highlight reel fight of his was vs Komkin.

yeah, cardio was his Achilles heel. Other than that and technique, a real beast.
