Despite my previous attempts, last night was my first workout with my new bands.

Really hit the triceps hard on bench, though I didn't feel it until I went to do accessory work.

I also tried SOHP with bands, but I'm wondering if that's the right way to go, since I can pretty much lock out anything I can get off my shoulders.

Is band work just overkill for Push or Standing overhead?

No not at all. Bands or chains, change the strength/power curve, so it forces your muscles to work differently, helping improve motor neuron pathways.

I wouldn't do it on the SOHP. My own reasons, nothing bad. The good side of the bands is as pointed out above/.

Yeah, If you can "lock out anything you can get off your shoulders" I would consider bands a good addition to SOHP and PP, essentially adding more resistance to your strongest points in the lift. Sounds good to me.

I myself, am not big on bands, i prefer chains, but like STWA said, it's just a personal thing

i have yet to use bands or chains but i would stick with it and see how you progress.

Damn, I've been sensitive the last week - since I'm being a bitch, I've got to ask:

Why the quotes around the lock out phrase?

Cause that's what you said you big mangina! Don't be so sensitive, I'm jealous cause I can get way more weight off my shoulders than I can lockout.

Hey, I admitted it.

My wife's pregnant and sick and isn't sleeping at all. Guess who gets to stay up with her?

I've been taking prednisone and can't sleep more than 4 hours at whack.

My 2-year-old daughter has taken to falling out of bed twice a night and sick, pregnant wife who is already awake doesn't want to go put her back in bed, so guess who gets to do it?

All of that adds up to about 4 hours of broken sleep, which makes vaginas grow all over my body.

I apologize for my high estrogen levels and accept your rebukes.:icon_cry2

Sounds rough man. I don't know how it is with pregnancy, but zicam always cuts my colds way short (by a couple days).

Your two year old needs a cage, or a bed rail or something. Used to happen to me all the time until my parents basically just put me in a large cage with a matress covered floor... or was that a dream?

I think I'm going to go with one of two things -

Matress on the floor

or

Loft bed with surrounding cage and locking gate - I can just see it now, "You've been naughty, go get into your cage!"

She has a toddler bed with a rail, but somehow manages to flop around enough to fall out anyway. Normally, she doesn't even wake herself up, but this last week she did every time.

Next week will be a new adventure - it always is with a little one.

At babies 'R' us you can find rails that also have a hard rail about 6-12 inches above the lower one and a net in between. Had to use it for my daughter a lot.

I may have to get some.

My wife won't let me use the dog kennel.

I thought it was a pretty good idea, but she saw some trouble with it.

Coach - what would you think about 3-4 weeks of band bp work and then switching to band work on dips or some sort of tricep extensions?

I would only use chains or bands on compound movements. No need for isolation exercises to have bands.

Seems to be a mixed opinion on that - Elite has some iso exercises with bands listed, but I don't see a bunch in the workout logs.

Guess I'll have to feel my way around, as usual.

Thanks for the tip.

Don't get me wrong man. They have great advice, and it could be done. Just for ME and MY clients I keep it to compound movements. There is definitely merit to what they suggest.

Point taken.

I wasn't trying to come back at you, just doing the normal juggling act with lifting advice.

My primary rule is: "Once you have some experience, do what's right for you."

Sorta like sex that way.

What are these bands / chains thingys? Any pictures ?

Indeed, wonderful search tool. But I bet ya that if I googled "chains" or "bands" the last things that would come up were those that you posted. It's better to leave it to people that know, ie not me.

Thanks for taking the time to google it. A pitty I'm too dumb to understand how you implement those things to your lifting, never seen / heard about them down here.
