Soccer players have a ton of potential in MMA than most other major sports.

Outside of college wrestling for obvious reasons.

Guys like Anderson Silva, Conor McGregor, and Jose Aldo were all former soccer players. The amount of balance and stamina needed for soccer translates well into MMA. Compare this to American Handegg where a bunch of fat f-cks can start because they weight a lot but gas out after running a 100 yards.

I play soccer and I agree that there’s potential there that people don’t discuss(in terms of translating to MMA), but the % of soft players is very high. I’m a defender and the amount of crying I hear from attackers every match when I put hands on them is sad.

Nope. They kick a soccer ball up and down and have good cardio.

Absolutely nothing other than cardio translates to MMA.

Football players; baseball players, curlers, soccer players are unproven to make great fighters.

Modern day NFL: (Defender touches Quarterback) FLAG! Roughing the passer!

And they need really good footwork for that, I can tell you never played any sport that requires cardio

I can tell you're trolling or really have no clue what you're talking about

The soccer ball isn't trying to knock them out or put them to sleep.

You've never done a single martial art or sport in your life to make such ridiculous comments

I've seen enough to realize you are not worth conversing with on Sherdog. I'll let others amuse your absolutely ridiculous opinion

To the list you go

Okay finish off a tub of ice cream and a pack of budlight as you sit through more commercial breaks tubby

Because you are not a defender, you must be a sub par guy playing at defense that appeal to continuous faults to compensate the lack of skills.

Who tried to knock you out and put you to sleep ? You're friends in high school ? Sherdog threads ? Your drug dealer ?

Nah, it was the 5th tub of Chocolate Ice cream he ate when he was sitting through commercials in the 4th quarter of a "football game".

I would argue that it's because they all come from countries where soccer is huge. Not that soccer didn't help them with footwork and cardio but soccer isn't special in terms of that. I think a sport that develops more explosiveness such as American football would probably prepare someone better for MMA.
