My question for the forum at large is, on this 4th of July, are you proud of your country, wherever it may be? I'm curious to see whether some of the ra-ra American types are perhaps not proud, or maybe some of its biggest critics are proud of their country despite their issues. What are you proud of, and what are you not, wherever you may live? And are you proud to call yourself an (insert national moniker here) all considered at this point in time? Also, please tell us what country you're referencing.

I'm Canadian. Only three days ago we had our Canada day and in a year where our Prime Minister agreed with a report that Canada has had an ongoing genocide taking place (link below), all in I'm still proud of my country. We provide a good place to live, our economy is having issues but still adding jobs, there is opportunity and the possibility of economic mobility, we are conscious of human rights violations, we tend to be a stabilizing force in international relations (issues with China right now aside), and people flock to Canada from around the world because a Canadian flag is something that tends to be smiled at around the globe. I feel like Canada is good to live in, well respected, and all in a positive force in the world.

So, what about you lot? Tell us your stories of pride or shame in your country.

Of course I am proud to be American, who wouldn't be? The U S of A is the greatest nation on the planet. God bless America.

The only pride I got in my own country is that it allowed me to fuck off elsewhere, cuz political socialists are destroying that country.

Antifa, San Fran being a literal shit hole, California in general, Florida.

Are there counterpoints to what you just listed? Something like "Proud boys, Houston, and the state of Maine"?

What the hell has Maine ever done other than have very tasty seafood?

Yep I’m proud, God bless America

Which country?

I'm gonna guess.... Venezuela?

And yes, I'm DAMN proud of my country. Is the US perfect? Hell no. Could it be improved? Hell yes! But in the end, for all of it quirks and faults, it still manages to be an amazing land of opportunity where if you fail to at least be moderately successful and happy in life it's because you literally tried to be a failure. Plus, we have the awesomeness of the 2nd ammendment. Freedom at 2500 FPS baby!

Canada isn't a real country--they're a autonomous dominion of Great Britain, they still legally hold allegiance to the crown.

Today the celebrates it's victory over English rule, while Canada is just an extension of English rule.

I'm not american but I'd be proud of being American if I was. It's a good country guys.
Not proud in the rah-rah way but you gotta be proud to make things better. Even if you're Venezuelan you have to have pride that even if your country is in the gutter there are good people fighting for what's right.

I have dual citizenship but I'm brazilian foremost.
Things to be proud of:
We do not engage in wars of aggression or border conflicts.
We still have the largest nature reserves in the world.
We beat starvation, illiteracy and 3rd world diseases in the last 30 years. We were basically Africa back then.
We didn't fall for a crazy populist or dictator unlike so many other LATAM countries, such as Venezuela, Bolivia, Cuba
We don't go broke every 10 years or so as Argentina
We do not illegally migrate in mass numbers to other countries as failed states do.

I'm proud to be Canadian, even though I have some gripes.

Proud isn’t the right word for me to be honest, I would say I’m very fortunate and lucky to be an American. As far as the country itself, yes I’m proud of this country. For all it’s faults it’s still a place where a person is free to speak their mind, criticize its Government, and live freely without persecution. If your willing to work hard and dream big you can achieve great things in this country, so yeah I’m proud of America.
