News surfaced over a week ago that Tarec Saffiedine has come down with yet another injury, forcing him out of his main event fight with Matt Brown in Colorado in early February and we haven't gotten any updates on a potential replacement for the fight. You'd have to think the fight being just a few days over a month away that the UFC is hustling to find a viable replacement for the fight. Who do you think they come up with to fill in?
My best guesses are Hector Lombard, who won his fight with Burkman escaping with hardly a scratch could probably step in, but in a recent interview he stated he had his sights set on Rory MacDonald, so not too sure that happens. I'd say the winner of Woodley/Gastelum is way too quick a turnaround for anyone not named Donald Cerrone, although Woodley has showed he can fight on a consistent basis KOing Dong Hyun Kim just a month after his loss to Rory MacDonald.
Other than that, I don't see many viable replacements other than pulling Brandon Thatch from his currently scheduled fight with Wonderboy Thompson on the same card to fight in the main event, or a drastically shot turnaround for the winner of Jordan Mein and Thiago Alves and Mein already holds a loss to Brown. Options seem incredibly thin but I'm very curious to see what the UFC comes up with.
