He used to hate him. But now he is the new face, light and saviour of the UFC. Even before the Gus fight (which Dana should promote as a competitive matchup) he was giving interviews speculationg about future opponents for Jones like Glover and going up to HW. And after the fight, this very close *cough* win *cough*, he talks about how "this kid could achieve anything", how he may become the GOAT, puts him #1 p4p - completely ignoring that he just almost lost and looked all too human.

But apparently Dana has decided that he wants to hype Jones beyond GSP, Silva and reason. Why and since when?

Probably because GSP and Silva are coming to the end of their careers

I too was wondering why a promoter would promote one of his fighters.

Probably when Jones started demolishing the entire LHW...except his last fight...which Dana will now spit hot fire to hype the rematch...there's money to make.

and maybe...just maybe...since GSP became a point fighter...

That's because Bones showed the ability to get through adversity and a great chin.

TWO things his detractors were questioning before this fight.

Completely worthless post and i got bored reading it ..... He won the fight in my opinion, everyones is different. So with your logic ... since the spider got knocked out, he's not the greatest fighter ever in the ufc and still p4p the best? Jones didn't even lose yet dude

    Haha. This.

Why wouldn't Dana hype Jones? He's Dana's greatest cash cow right now. If AS loses the rematch he'll probably retire and GSP is boring to watch. It's hard to hype a 5 round hump fest.

Those 5 round hump fests are still the biggest draw in the company.

A couple years ago, obviously, since he's been promoting the hell out of Jones for at least that long. It was a year-and-a-half ago that Jones became the first main eventer to be sponsored by the UFC. It was more than two years ago that Jones was the subject of the first "In the Moment" show leading up to his title shot against Shogun.

    This.

Also, wasn't Dana pretty high on JBJ before all the BS with the DUI and then the fights he turned down?

Not because of the exciting fights. It's because GSP has been champ forever and every casual knows who he is. I was on the hype train when he returned. I was hoping for a well rested, healed, improved GSP. He wasn't much different than before his injury. His matches are still boring.

After tito he was into him, then after Bader the hype machine was on.
But he's a promoter what else is he going to do?
