So whats up with Cerrone just freezing up?

I feel like there is a few people here who don't actually watch him fight. He's top 10 on fightmetric for Sig. Strikes landed, through out all weight classes, total.

Just because he doesn't go in constantly winging, doesn't mean he's not throwing a bunch of strikes or "freezing up". So this is what it is now? A year ago he couldn't beat a top 10 fighter...he beat 4 to 5 top 10 opponents IN A ROW and now he's freezing up? Why because he didn't throw 56 weak ass kicks to Bensons thigh that did zero damage?

Let's check fightmetric again...

125 sig strikes thrown against Benson

83 sig strikes thrown against Jury (and one whole round was fought on the ground, basically)

166 against Alvarez

78 against Miller that was stopped near the beginning of the 2nd round

In fact, since this win streak started...he's only been outpaced by Benson Henderson and Barboza if you want to count that one.

So in short, you are pretty much just talking about this last fight. This isn't a trend.

Pretty much all of those.

Cerrone is a classic bully fighter. When he is winning easily he looks like god. It creates a confidence loop he feeds off. When someone takes it to him, roughs him up, he never responds well and loses. He *should* have lost the Benson fight but judges know that when in doubt, give it to the guy in the red corner.

Really? Because RDA roughed him up pretty good, and he came back and kicked RDA's ass in the third round. He DID lose the fight, but he didn't wilt up like some defeated bully.

He *shouldn't* have lost the Benson fight. You land 50 jabs, I land 35 hooks and straights...guess who's gonna be looking like the winner at the end. It aint the guy that thought that it was ACTUALLY score based and each time he touched the other, his score went up...regardless of damage or strength of the strike.
