So what's the final verdict on the Expendables franchise?

A few nights ago I finally got around to watching The Expendables 3. I saw the first two in the theater and then just kind of felt like I had enough. By the time the third one came around I wasn't motivated to check it out.

I thought the third film was okay. Not great, not terrible, just okay. And thinking back over the entire franchise I think that's how I feel about it overall: It's okay.

But what sucks is that I can't help but have the nagging feeling that with Stallone in charge, and with the fucking amazing casts these films put together, they shouldn't have just been okay, they should've been awesome.

In my opinion at least, the only awesome thing they gave us was Van Damme as a villain. I thought he was great and made that film much better than it otherwise would've been.

But I want to hear some other opinions. What's your final verdict on these movies?

Good? Shitty? Decent? Fucking fantastic? Abysmal?

Enjoyed first two

the third was dogshit i didnt even finish

Liked the first one, loved the second one, had no interest in watching the third one.

I was one of the rare few who couldn't stand Rousey before the Holm loss.

Poor Ronda. She gets shit on so much.

One of the most misunderstood figures to come through the sport.

liked the first one, didn't like the second but jcvd was the best thing about it,haven't seen the 3rd because I'm not interested.

One was truly enough. Should have never become 'franchise'.

Liked the 1st
Second one wasn't bad.
Third was just a phone in from every body. I get they were having fun with all these, but they could have at least made the 3rd as good as the first.

Insufferable, entitled brat who got way more fame than she merited, and has zero performance ability whatsoever (as we saw last Sunday).

I feel sorry for the talented young actress in a local theatre somewhere who deserves these roles, but won't have a career because politics and "favours."

Not my cup of tea. Never watched them.

Not sure what happened last Sunday.

But I think that Ronda is an incredibly insecure person. Outside of her family, she's basically been treated like shit all her life. She treats others poorly as a defense mechanism because of the way that she has been treated.

Her sense of worth is directly tied to her ability to be good at things. When she is not the best, it's a huge blow to her confidence and self-esteem.

She's a bit of a tragic figure really, and more sympathetic than I think a lot of people realize or want to acknowledge.

Thought they got better as they went. Third one was just over the top and non-stop with the action. Was at least as much fun as Fury Road but without the feminist themes.

As someone who thinks that Fury Road is pretty overrated, that doesn't exactly strike me as a ringing endorsement.

Take it how you want. I enjoyed both films for the relentless action. I don't think Fury Road is the masterpiece hype would have one believe. Road Warrior is still franchise king.

I enjoyed all three. The first one was obviously the best, but 2 and 3 had better villains. It did what it set out to do. Like a 70’s two hit wonder touring the country.

Stallone shouldn’t direct ever again though.

they are garbage as movies but the nostalgia of having all these old ass action dudes from the 80's saves the first one, there are no excuses for the sequels
