I have been keeping up with folding phones since they were announced, and watching reactions and speculations has been pretty fun. From the beginning, we kinda knew what the price range was going to be for these devices ($1800-$2200 were my estimations), and now that a Samsung has released the flagship version of the first folding phone, we got our answer with the $2,000 price tag.

Whether you initially thought it was a stupid idea or not, you have to admit, it's cool to finally see a different direction being taken in the smart phone industry.

Here is Lew unboxing one and his initial reactions:

Here is him talking a little more in depth and answering questions on it:

$2,000 for a phone/tablet is pricey AF. Even with 512GB built in and 12GB ram, that's still a pretty penny for a phablet or whatever you wanna call it. The price point isn't for everyone, but is it for you? Let's discuss!

How do I clean all the dried up cum from in between the hinges?

$2k for that phone... Just so they can roll out a better version 4 months later. Hell naw

Saw the vid last night, i really do like the phone though.

Anyone who doesnt buy 2 or 3 of these things, sounds poor.

I'm not spending 2000 dollars on a phone, go fuck yourself phone guy.

So,

It's a flip phone..?

Cool, I was getting tired of breaking my screens anyways
Now I can break some hinges again like I used to do in the 2000's

So it takes a phone and a tablet and mates them together, creating one device that has the worst features of both. A big heavy phone, and a tiny tablet.

Looks awful. It's much more convenient to be able to hold a large phone in your hand than a thick Square. When folded, the phone adds the functionality of a galaxy S1. Why anybody would want this other than to show you have disposable income and very little common sense is beyond me. I guess it's a step in the right direction moving forwards, but the wow factor doesn't inspire much confidence.

Dumb as fuck.

In general, buying expensive phones is the stupidest way to show off you got money. Buy nice clothes or a watch or a car like a normal person.

If you raise $2000, I fold.

12GB RAM. Lol. That’s as much as my Laptop.

Just to run snapchat, YouTube and tiktok.

those complaining about the price ... since when did people start "buying" mobile phones anyway?

I thought the whole industry was built on contracts that result in you getting the phone and occasional upgrades.

My thoughts exactly. It doesn't look like a good phone or a good tablet. I'm someone how likes a smallish phone though. If I want to use a tablet or laptop I'll take the time to use it. I don't want to haul around a giant device in my pocket or my fanny pack.

i thought that you end up paying for the phone? A little bit every bill?

Didn't most carriers do away with that concept a few years ago? As far as I know you pay for your phone now through most carriers, most people just add it to their bill.

so most people who get one will be adding $2000 to their mobile phone bill for the month?

btw I bought my POS phone, not interested in smartphone apps but I do use it occasionally
