So there are only 5 good Heavy Weights in the world?

The 'other sport' thing is a myth
The NFL has 600+ players on the roster a year that are 6'3+ and 250+ pounds.

It's certainly not a myth that a large chunk of college recruits are vying to get into the NFL to make a Khalil Mack 150 million dollar contract, 'cause you sure as shit aren't making that kind of money in wrestling/MMA/whatever.

In a planet with 7 billion people how can is there only 5 "good" heavyweight fighters????

Also why are half of these guys like 40 years old...where are all the 25 year old beasts?

1. DC --- OLD
2. Stipe
3. Dos Santos -- OLD
4. Ngannou
5. Blaydes
X. Lewis ... this is where the list ends because Lewis is not a good fighter, he has no skill and no gas tank

Stipe is older than Dos Santos...

No Overeem??
TS, what's wrong with you?

Less than 2% of NCAA football players go pro.

That's thousands of gigantic A Level athletes every single year.

It's a myth because that is a huge pool of athletes who aren't transitioning to MMA, and it's also a myth that these guys (pro or not) would even make it in MMA. The majority wouldn't.

KSW has a bunch of younger heavyweights. Too bad they are roided to the gills and gas out after one flurry.

You're forgetting about the other 1000+ players a year that wait in practice squads just hoping to get a chance at going pro.

They're actually most likely categorized as pros. They get paid to play.

Even if not, the vast, VAST majority of NCAA athletes never make a living playing sports. Those practice squad guys do.

I think most athletic 250lb guys aren't interested in getting punched in the face by other athletic 250lb guys and would rather just get a steady job.

Well said

Truth is, there are just far less men that size.

The 'other sport' thing is a myth
The other sport thing is not a myth because other sports are filled with heavyweight sized athlete's. If martial arts was more lucrative, then the big would guys would take more of a look at it.

More than 98% of NCAA football players never make money playing sports.

Do they just fall off the earth?

HW was one of the first division that got good athletes, wrestlers like Coleman and Kerr.
Bach in the day you also had more high level strikers like Cro Cop or even Semmy moving over because both promotions were based in the same country and the pay was good, not to mention the Russian Sambo guys.
Today the talent pool hasn't really increased, for a long time the UFC didn't really sign Russian fighters (M1 is also to blame). It's getting better when it comes to signing guys from that Region, but overall the talent pool hasn't improved.
Let's be real, how confident would you be in picking Derrick Lewis over prime Minowaman?

Werdum and Volkov off the top of my head.

Nah. Bader beats at least half of them.

Stipe is older than JDS.

Heavyweights exist outside the UFC.

HW will never be a division with a steady stream of talent. There will be times where the talent level is better and deeper than others but for the most we'll be lucky to have four really good championship worthy guys. Boxing has gone through this also. Look out there in your neighborhoods and many of the guys at the HW range are slobs and not much in terms of an athlete. The great athletes in the HW range are in football, basketball and so forth or working in construction or something like that.

More mass = less oxygen -> less repetition
More size = less agile

Sigh

I’d be willing to bet that a large amount of that 98% are not over 225. And a larger percent still aren’t what people would call freak athletes. And a larger percent still aren’t interested in getting punched in the face in a career with a far lower earning potential.
