Last night lightning struck right outside my house, blew some kind of transformer thing. It caused my computer to restart, and it destroyed my modem. Nothing else in house was even affected a little. I am guessing the spike came in through internet wires, blew out modem, and traveled on ethernet cord to my pc. Now my ethernet port on the MB is toast. Thankfully I do not think it did any more damage.....but now my computer wont shut off. And it turns itself on after I shut it off. I hooked a usb wifi card up out of necessity, but I feel like it is destined to get broken as it sticks out wither the front of back of my desktop like 3 inches, and i have cats and kids that like to run and knock stuff over.
Is my computer now self aware? I mean it cleaerly prefers to be on now, and I cannot stop it from turning itself on,a nd staying on unless I pull plug.
What do sherdog?

Laying the groundwork for a creative defense for possession of child porn imo

your screwed, it will be jealous and will kill anyone who takes attention away from it. Also if you fap it will electrocute you

obviously. TS run 4 yo life

If you do pull the plug, never EVER plug it back in.

computers have long memories. They do not forget.

The PSU is the component most likely to be damaged by a power surge. But it could also be a motherboard or BIOS issue.

it turns on and runs fine, so i am fairly certain nothign else was damaged. It wont even detect on board ethernet card/port anymore, its just dissapeared into the aether.
also, i gave my cats a bath today, do you think that has anything to do with it?

I for one welcome our new Skynet overlords.

If you're gonna blow Transformers outside your house you should expect them to link up with your computer to keep tabs on you. I also hope you didn't try to swallow 1.21 gigawatts.

Are you looking for permission to hump your computer?

TS, I'm confident you have created Roko's Basilisk. If you turn it off now, the basilisk will terminate you sometime in the future.

Hah! I'm just watching Ex Machina right now (keep stopping for breaks though, because I'm struggling with the embarrassing dweebiness of the protagonist).

"Dave, why do you keep coming on me, Dave? Dave, please aim elsewhere, Dave."

Only 1 next logical step.
