He simply needed a break to get it back. But near the end of his last run the names accurate his heart really wasn't in it .

Much respect for fighting through that adversity. He even fought out of a rear naked choke attempt and capped off his return with a signature KO.

It wasn't a thing tonight. He's quit in fight before, but against Augusto he took a beating, hung tough, and won. Big heart Rumble is the GOAT.
Yeah, maybe this was it. Didn't he say he was fat and happy in retirement? Maybe he needed a vacation.

Rumble showed alot of heart coming back from nearly being finished to getting the KO
but you cant ignore the mountain of evidence over his career of quitjobs and chicken heart. He earned the Crumble nickname but for this fight he was not Crumble

I gained a new respect for Rumble after this fight.
Came out like Jiri, win, lose or draw, showed intention to take the opponent's head off.
Yes, he got rocked but that other guy is also pretty good and has put on some nice combos even with the broken hand.

He wasn’t exactly facing the highest competition, if glover, dc or Jones had his back if would have been a different story. He beat a low level journeymen big whoop

The criticism before was valid. He did "crumble". Now showed heart. Got out of the bad spots, made it through from being hurt. So, props. He's always been a talent. Better than most, is expected to do well. So it's good to see the will to win in a longtime top fighter.

That's a pretty harsh assessment of a guy who had 9 fights coming in on short notice, we can't say for sure what Augusto's ceiling is just yet.
Not to mention that he had to rely on his chin holding up to catch Rumble like that, which not a lot of LHWs could do.

Yeah not usually, but it happens. Some guys succeed at high levels due to preternatural athleticism, but lack heart, self-discipline and other intangible characteristics usually associated with high level success in sports.
