So much for JDS having the best boxing in MMA!

Chael outstruck Anderson. Anderson also ran away from Maia for a whole fight. So no.

Prime Tyson or either Klitschko would've been owned by Cain tonight. I don't think tonight said anything bad about Junior's boxing. It only said that excellent wrestling>boxing most of the time.

As for who is the best boxer in MMA right now? The answer is Michael McDonald. By a very wide margin. He is one of the first complete fighters who could beat most specialists at their own respective games(be it boxing/K1/BJJ).

There is a poster in the W MMA section and he said that prime Cro Cop and Anderson have great striking.

JDS was out worked in the first round. Hence, boxing out the window. He couldn't even stand up.

Cain should of knocked him cold. Don't know what he was doing....

I'd still say JDS has some of the best boxing, its just that Cains pressure and take downs completely threw him off.

I'd say JDS supposedly amazing takedown defence was exposed more than his boxing skill. He's still a world above most strikers in MMA.

Boxing in MMA is generally technically terrible.

But if I had to choose, I'd say Arlovski. Only Maldonado, Anderson and the Diaz brothers have technique that is anywhere near as good in my opinion. Andrei trained with Freddie Roach and it shows, too bad he has a fragile chin though.

I would maybe agree from a purely offensive standpoint, but Arlovski's defense is so bad it's almost non existent. I think you have to take the whole package and thats why to me, Anderson is so impressive.

Anderson has always had the best boxing in UFC by far, and no one is even close. Anyone who believes otherwise doesn't know shit about boxing.

I think it was obvious yesterday that JDS' boxing is not the best in MMA... I think Anderson has that title now. Who do you think?

That's Cain holding the mits incidentally, that's where Silva learned it from

Too me Anderson is more of a MT guy.

Just look at his last 2 fights, boxing played a very small part in them, they were both ended by knees.

Really? Really? Try watching the Maia v Silva fight. Anderson stalked and clowned him for the entire fight and Maia was to scared to do anything.

As for Tyson or the Klitschkos being out boxed by Cain...typical MMA fan, there is a world of difference between boxing and MMA boxing. Cain would get murdered within a round agaisnt any decent boxer. His takedowns is what threw JDS off.

Of course he is, that's his primary base, but watch his fights with Forrest and Okami, he pretty much only works his hands in those fights. Both offensively and defensively it is just a marvel to watch.

Freddie Roach in an interview a while back said that Anderson is the best boxer in MMA at the moment, and i doubt much has changed.

Yeah, he also said that BJ was #3 (this was after the Diaz fight he said this) and GSP was #2.

Freddie's a great trainer, but I tend to take his opinion of boxing in MMA with a pinch of salt after watching that.

Forrest and Yushin's hands are both average at best. Anderson rang rings around them yes, but it wasn't as amazing a feat as some like to make it out to be.

Yes, remember what happened to Toney in mma? It would be the same for a lot of mma guys making the crossover to boxing. Of course a few of the top guys could hang, like the fighters named in this thread.

Where would you rank Nick Diaz' boxing skills?

His takedowns is what threw JDS off.

No, what "threw" JDS off was the fact that Cain was quicker and faster than JDS was. Cain was able to land on JDS all night and was doing it consistently with fast and crisp punches, JDS' "boxing" and speed was horribly overrated on Sherdog for quite some time because for some strange reason a place filled with posters that despise Boxing, actually believe they are good judges of what does/doesn't make a good "boxer" in MMA.

Knocking a trained fighter out with a jab while walking backwards is damn impressive.
