For the UFC to not only strip her but not let her get another shot to make weight says something to me. I realize she hasn't defended it yet but to strip and not let her fight for it makes me think that she likely didn't want to fight. I wouldn't be thinking this if she didn't seem scared when Valentina was brought up being next and she made her fight someone before accepting the fight.

I think the key thing is that Montana was apparently nowhere near 125lbs, and would have failed to make weight, and thus lost the belt on the scale anyway, even if she had attempted to weigh in.

As to whether her condition was serious, or the treatment was just precautionary, who knows? But she just lost a championship purse and is unlikely to ever get the opportunity to make that cash again.

If her camp sends her to the hospital, I could see this. However, UFC medical staff told her to stop the weight cut and sent her to the hospital.

Situations and decisions like stripping her of the title makes the sport look like it is not a sport. First off it sets a bad precedent in regards to fighter safety. Second, just had a similar situation with Max just a few short months ago and he wasn’t stripped.

UFC needs to develop rules and procedures and live within them. The days of Dana’s whims need to be over if this sport is going to continue to grow.
