So there you have it all blue belts, you need to beat someone Faber caliber.
So STFU next time you want to make a thread how much longer for my blue.

Damn you have to beat a wrestler who also is a BJJ brown that was once an MMA champ and still holds a 25-5 record? I guess I had better return mine then!

Paper blue belt for sure.

You also need to beat them using mainly striking.

yea, im also thinking that blue belt will do pretty good in a street fight lol

Didn't watch, so I'm guessing Cruz got his blue belt after his win?

Who is his BJJ instructor?

I don't get it, how long has cruz been fighting? And he's just now a blue belt? Really?

I could have sworn Cruz was higher ranked than that, but I guess that just goes to show his promotion is legit. Big win & promotion to blue belt, so a good day for him. The first promotion is often the most memorable!

i was wondering if it was somewhat making fun of Faber when he got his brown after a fight. It just seems a weird place to get promoted for BJJ imo

im prob looking too far into it tho, gratz to Cruz either way.

I thought he already had his blue belt, like he got it recently. I thought I read that he was bragging about being a blue belt at his gym

It was a shot against Urijah who received his brown after the Wineland fight.

It's a marketing tool and free camera time for Llyod Irvin. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

I love how many people freak out over shit like this online. Be it from this, faber, Randy etc why do people give a shit?

It's just quite funny to see a UFC champ receive his BLUE belt after successfully defending the title :)

I probably am mistaken, but didn't one of the UFC commentators say that Cruz trained under LI for 4 years?

I thought Loyd Irvin's system was based around getting you belts really quickly as long as you pay?

He has produced some good guys so he must be doing something right, but you would have thought Cruz would be like a brown belt by now on Irvin's usual timeline.

I'm pretty sure it was purple and goldberg fucked up.

I think you're right. But keep in mind that Dominic is out in San Deigo and Lloyd is in Maryland. So Cruz probably doesn't get to train with LI as much as a normal guy who lived on the East Coast would be able to.
