So, is it safe to assume Conor denied the Mas fight?

Not safe to assume anything with Conor. What we do know, however, is Dana had his sights set on the rematch with Khabib as soon as Conor-Cowboy was booked.

I don’t think Conor is the one calling the shots here. UFC has a lot more structure than people think. Usman has to defend his belt. Options? Masvidal or winner of Woodley\Edwards. Usman already beat Woodley and Edwards, also their fight is in March so they might not be ready to fight in July. So Usman\Masvidal is a no brainer.

Khabib is fighting Tony, clearly the #1 contender. Next in line are Conor and Gaethje. Conor is the former champ coming of a spectacular win and has knocked out two guys, who both TKOed Gaethje. Conor dispatched Cowboy even faster than Gaethje. Not to mention he is a bigger draw, so he gets the title shot before Gaethje does.

My bet is Conor will wait to see if Khabib\Tony really does happen and try to jump in if it doesn’t. If 5th time is the charm, he fights Gaethje to stay active. Then probably fights Khabib in November at MSG.

Dana probably hopes Masvidal beats Usman, Conor beats Khabib and then you would have the fight of the century between those two.

Doubt it was ever offered with the way Dana talks about it. He’ll fight someone before the title shot though.
