So if Anderson was old, wasn't Weidman inexperienced?

Travis lutter with cardio would have tooled Anderson for fuq sakes

Um, yeah. If I could go into a fight and had to choose to either be old or inexperienced, I'll take inexperienced. Otherwise old men would rule the sport and wouldn't be so interested in TRT.

He didn't look old at all agaisnt Bonnar, a few months prior to his first loss against Weidman.

Silva has looked visibly older since Okami II. It's not too hard to imagine what would have happened here if Bonnar had serious knockout power.

Yeah, people were not talking about how old he looked when he matrix'd Bonnar and was the first person to TKO him. If anything, people were clamoring even more about his GOAT status. Only Weidman made Anderson look old.

I agree that 38 is old for a fighter, especially one with over 35 fights. But the only times Anderson looked human was against Chael I, and Weidman. His fights leading up to Weidman (Chael II, Vitor, Bonnar and Okami) were some of Anderson's best performances. So let's give Weidman some credit.

Yeah TS, Anderson is a spring chicken at 38 with over 30 fights!

Weidman's wins are legitimate, but let's not act like he isn't 10 years younger than Anderson for fuck's sake.

Also, yes Anderson has been showing his age. Before Weidman (and even Sonnen 2) people were wondering when Anderson looked old.

He didn't have a great performance against Sonnen in the rematch although he got the finish in the 2nd and he didn't look great against Bonnar either.

Basically, you're slow TS.

Trying to remember the last time experience turned a fight around.

Let's not forget that Silva also had much better TD defense at that point as well.

He was also much slower than he once was.

Weidman definitely didn't have a ton of experience (in MMA at least, he was wrestling and doing BJJ long before his MMA debut), but Anderson was undoubtedly old, especially for a champion.

This is not a very good thread.

TS wants to bash Anderson and praise Weidman.

Have a good time...

It was nearly 9 months between the fight with Bonnar and the fight with Weidman and it had been a full year since his last title defense.

Also, Anderson has looked noticeably slower since the Okami fight. If you watch some of his older fights the speed difference is hard to ignore.

Weidman Tools any version of Anderson age 27/31/35 it makes no difference. Deal with it fangirl.

How are you so sure about that? Anderson has been around for 4 different generations of this sport and back in the olden days fighters had to have day jobs just to stay afloat.

Chris benefited from being able to train 24/7 while Anderson had to work at burger king to make ends meet even after beating sakurai. Are you confident that chris would be as good in 2004 as he is now if he only trained part time?

This applies to other sports as well when you try to compare athletes from totally different generations. Drew brees broke johny unitas' record for most games with a touchdown pass but like anderson johnny unitas had a job during the offseason selling used cars in Baltimore and for that reason I think it would be flawed to say that brees was better than any version of unitas for the simple fact that brees had the advantage of training year round.
