So I Take It CM Punk Will Fight Cathal Pendred.

Seems like with the way MMA media outlets are picking up on Pendred and Punk beefing on Twitter and Pendred continuing to talk smack about Punk that this fight is being hype in some way to get fans to talk about it being that it will eventually be signed as an official fight for next year.

 

Good luck finding a commission that will sanction a fight between an 0-0 fighter and a 17-3-1 fighter..

Well, if you are Luke Thomas you think that fight is the most unfair fight to be made in all of MMA lol. He even thinks commissions wouldn't even sanction that fight. I personally would love to see it! Regardless of who gets their ass kicked.

This. Idk wtf people are thinking. Cathal might not be elite in the UFC, but I'd think he'd have a good shot of being a champion in just about any other organization, or at least be near the top. Cathal is an experienced fighter that still has room to grow despite having a good record while CM Punk is going to be 0-0 with no background. It'd be a slaughter

 

This is going to be a problem with anyone in the UFC though, the guy doesn't even have any amateur fights that is going to be an obstacle

I think the UFC greases enough palms in Vegas to get it done though

But Mercer was near 50 and retired as a boxer. He really was at a major disadvantage in that fight. I personally hung out with the guy and I was nervous Sylvia was going to kill him.

They will sanction any fight between two guys in the same weight class, regardless of records.

 

all the people naming Toney and Mercer are nuts. both guys had hundreds of boxing matches.

the closest thing that is like CM Punk vs Cathal is 15-1 Benji Radach fighting 0-0 Danny LaFever. LaFever ended up brutally KOing Radach in 55 secs

 

The difference with the Ray Mercer and James Toney fights was that those guys had significant martial arts and combat sports experience on the Olympic and world championship level, and they were very dangerous in a key element of MMA and arguably the most dangerous aspect of MMA (striking.) What's the worst that happens to those guys? They get submitted? And they clearly had a way to win their fights as they were considered significantly more skilled than their opponents in striking.

CM Punk is just a dude. He's just a regular guy. It's way different.
