Today's MMA has superb athletes and specific training in the technique in what works in today's fight game so I have to get that out of the way.

But I gotta say the brutality, no gloves, less rules they had years ago is superior entertainment. The thing is I get to see the heart of a fighter without a Herb Dean jumping in after one punch. I grew up watching Bloodsport, Kickboxer like anyone that was a kid or teenager in the 80's and 90's. Back in the day you saw the skills of different disciplines and the destruction of certain fighting skills to determine what really works and we all have a good idea now on what you need to excel at which led to 50 percent of today's fighters doing the same thing.

Then I started watching the Pride shows and that was the pinnacle without question imo. The entertainment value was leagues above in what we have today regardless if the current fighters are better. Throw them in a ring with Pride rules and roids and have a raging prime Wanderlei Silva across staring into you.

Damn that shit was good. I watched Smashing Machine afterwards with the animal prime Kerr that I haven't seen for a while and it reminded me and blew me away how much violence and heart we used to see. Now we have a watered down UFC. I just had to get this rant out so just bleed.

Fuck off Dana

More like UFC intern who gets 3 months FP subscription and 20% off Reebok.

Word of advice OP, if you want to shill UFC effectively, don't start threads with "Today's MMA has superb athletes". Everyone on Sherdog knows MMA has C level athletes, you're not fooling anyone with that.

Yah I don't have fightpass but I hear you on the old stuff just being brutal and fun af to watch. When's the last time we saw someone do this:

ip check this idiot

bet it comes from Vegas

That's the common theme that they say and I'm a guy that doesn't necessarily believe it. The post is not pro current UFC in any way. Not sure how people would come to that conclusion. I'm the type that does believe some of those old school men with certain rules would rip apart some current high level guys. I would love to see Cormier or Stipe standing across a 28 year old Fedor hitting his prime in a Pride ring. Lets see how it would go. I believe they get beat.

You ain't gonna hear Dana White or any UFC shill talking about how MMA was better back in the day. TS speaks the fucking truth, MMA today is gay and boring.

I hear yah, but just refute the point that old school guys would rip apart new guys. Part of the reason the fights were brutal is because no one knew what they were doing and there wasn't weight classes. They would throw together legit fighters with guys that only credentials were 'been in some bar fights'. The sport has got boring because people know what they are doing, are afraid to lose Reebok money, USADA and they added women and manlets, who have no power.

IF they started pumping steroids into their fighter's asses, you would get more savagery. I say just have a forced steroid league, have more freakshow fights with no weight classes, and the violence will return......wait, did I just describe Rizin?

Wtf does this have to do with fight pass?

The forefathers of MMA fought because they loved the fight game, there wasn’t much of a prize if you won.

In order to earn a belt you had to fight several times at a single event.

There were no money fights, ducking, cherry picking, not defending.

The violence was pure, the fighters were larger then life, everyone was enhanced, there was no need for shit talking.

There was iconic facial hair and everyone was jacked...

Cool. Yeah fight pass has a ton of stuff that I watch from the old fight libraries. It's not good with navigating it all but once you get the hang of it you'll find hours of enjoyment. Not sure what all these haters are doing bagging on something that only costs a few bucks a month. I guess that's why they're ignored by anyone in the business of mma. Too broke or unwilling to even support mma broadcast material for a few measly dollars.

Do why the fuck did you buy the fight pass?

I see your point and agree with most of what you said about the reason why people were getting smashed that didn't know any better. I think people would be suprised if you put some of the new guys back to when people started training everything post 2000. I agree with you in what happened in the 90's. What I get frustrated with is the thinking today's fighters are better because the sport evolved. Bisping would get ripped apart in Pride imo. I'm just using him as an example being a champ in todays era.

Is it ufc clash of the Titans (I think 5) is one of the most brutal cards ever.

Have a bootleg DVD of it and turn it on for pure just bleed and entertainment.

Saw “Frye” in here and that reminded me of Don Frye’s fight with Amaury Bitetti. That was a sustained arse whipping. It would have been called way earlier if it happened in this era.

We’ll never see another totally one sided primal beat down like that in the UFC again.

Thank you. I hate Dana White. I'm mostly watching old school almost NHB UFC and Pride which has nothing to do with what these dicks are complaining about.
