So how about Rothwell vs. dos Santos

Reveling in Conor getting smacked down was fun for a few days. It's why I created my account in the first place, but after 1,000 threads, it's all been said.

So how about Rothwell? I'm pumped to see him continue his streak toward the belt. I think he's only getting better and his go go choke really is a powerful technique that nobody has been able to defend against. Also, arguably the most iron jaw in MMA (check out the Schaub fight again, if you disagree). I think the guy is awesome, super likable in a dorky kind of way. The guy has an aura about him once he gets in the cage; he's there to destroy.

Vegas is considering this a pick 'em fight. What do you think?

Great fight, Rothwell deserved a higher ranked fighter or next title shot after Werdum/Miocic imo, but this is a great stylistic match up that should be very fun to watch

It's still hard for me to believe JDS is done and he is only losing to top guys. I think it will be a tough fight but if Ben wins it should cement his title shot.

I just feel sad watching JDS fights now, the guy was a scary monster, now he's just so tentative I feel bad for the guy.
Rothwell is OK but no championship material, will get a title shot due to lack of contenders.

Definitely an interesting matchup. It pains me to say but I don't see JDS as champ material anymore and Big Ben loses to Cain/Werdum imo.

Agree with the above comments. JDS was a monster, but seems to have faded in recent times.

Big Ben likely wins this one, unless he gets clipped on the chin being reckless.

Rothwell seems like a man on a mission and is very confident, while JDS seems to be shaken by all those losses, and relatively recently got KO'd which leads me to belive he'll be more careful and hesitant to exchange. You have to favor Rothwell here, even tough you can't count out JDS boxing skill and Rothwell being a hittable target. Very intriguing fight.

Rothwell has been doing very well lately, especially with that gogo choke, but I wouldn't quite say that he's iron-jawed or even overly great as a striker. Ben is very hittable, and he has a weird style on the feet. He's been stopped by strikes a couple times so I'd say his chin is good not great, and even a diminished JDS has monster power if he connects.
Ben has been looking good so I'd hesitate to bet against him, but I still hold out a strong hope that this is the fight where Junior looks like his old self and gets back on track.

I thought he talked shit about Silva's addiction to Viagra, not about the steroids, no? I could be wrong, who knows. It was so long ago.

This is a tricky match up. I still believe that JDS will KO Rothwell, especially now his back is up against the wall and he knows it.

I love JDS forever and always! But those last two fights with Cain took a lot of fight out of him. I hate myself for saying this but Big Ben will get the W.
